Or at least never a "traditional" one and I'm ok with that.
I *know* these are going to cost me a good chunk of money in the future with lawn mower repairs and lost bulbs...but I still couldn't kill them.

The cats stirred up a nest yesterday and we have 2 baby gophers now...for short time anyway until I release them after they recover from the stress. There was quite a battle of wits between the dog and cats over these little guys' survival....the working dog won, believe it or not. ;)

 My inlaws used to catch the squirrels and relocate them because they ate all of the birdfood. Then one of their dogs sacred a mother squirrel who ended up driopping her baby in the driveway. MIL hand raised the furless little guy. Later they raised another whose mother was killed. They now buy nuts by the 25 pound bag and hand feed squirrels. Sucker!

I don't think that means you are a bad farmer..... We can't kill things either. My dh relocated a baby rattler to a very empty woodsy area... We have a lot of friends whose children just grab the guns or hoes or whatever and kill.... anything that is a pest. I know some can do damage but I think being gentle has its merits.
Not meaning to start something or offend. Just that I completely understand.
They are sooooo cute... those little guys!!!

Awww....I hear ya. :) We don't kill baby things either. But dh did shoot a weasel that got into the coop and killed 3 of our girls and I'm not sorry about it.

See, I haven't had to deal with things like that , yet!! I know the day will come when measures will have to be taken to protect all my extended family!

Yeah, see, I wouldn't think twice about that either.
So, we've learned...
that gophers chirp just like crickets.
They can easily climb up the side of a cage.
They sleep like the dead but if they happen to wake up when you lift them up they tun into a wet bar of soap.
They'll be released tomorrow during the cats' afternoon nap. ;)
