The mesclun and lettuces are finally big enough to thin, so we had a delicious fresh salad from the garden with our Solstice supper tonight. Yum!
It's been cool and rainy, so they've really taken off. Flea beetles plagued them at first (now I know to use floating row covers and I can start them earlier next year too) but they finally got big enough that they weren't interested...or my 2 escapee chickens ate all the flea beetles (they also messed up the garden badly by scratching straw onto the lettuces and kale and chard!).
I want a greenhouse so badly...I would love to eat lettuce in May. LOL. It's so chilly here! I think I did just convince myself I could grow them in flats in the basement all winter long. :)
