I have downloaded the manual (it's long!) and I looked at a couple of youtube videos (can't see them on my computer though, so I have to wait until dh is gone and has left his laptop here), but I'm not sure how to start. Should I read the manual or all of part I before starting, or just jump in?
also, is it necessary to have the dvd's?

It is REALLY good to see you here, Jayne:) We need a new pic of Milo~lol!
Deborah's DVD's on Youtube are great~and short to the point. They are stickied at the top of the forum.
The Manual is good. It will get you going. EFT is VERY simple to do at the basic level. You can have a good effect at the basic level while you get going. As you develop the art of it you can have even better effect!
The DVD's are really good(old and dated looking, but the information and experience in them is AMAZING). I am a visual learner. I ordered them all at once when I first learned. They are a really good deal. I also went to the workshops(Level 1-3)~which was invaluable. I am SURE you could find a good practitioner or workshop in San Diego.
I have copied DVD's for people...actually I copied some for an Amitymama in San Diego..I could pm her and see if you two could work something out. I am kind of burned out on copying and shipping...
Dive on in. We are here to help you.
You can work on the phone with someone as well.:D
Oh and the emofree website is LOADED with info and the newsletter is just amazing.

I'm glad to see you came over here Jayne! Be sure to join the private discussion part of the forum (in your CP at the bottom there's a link to memberships. Just tick the box to join and Deborah(I think its still Deb?) will add you. Then you can discuss things in more detail without having them google-able or open to the board at large/lurkers.

Thanks, mamas! I'm happy I found you here! :)
I am working my way through the manual. :) I'm really interested in the dvd's too, but I'm leaving town in a few days for six weeks, so maybe when I get back I'll take you up on your offer to contact the other san diego mama. It would be cool if it was someone I already knew.
And I know, I really need a new sig pic! lol I think that as about 2 1/2 years ago, more than half his life.
