As a preface, insomnia and heart racing is SUPER rare for me.

I had a really long , drama filled day yesterday. Admittedly it was other people's drama, not my own and my reactions to each situation was pretty balanced and calm. I am happy about that. But, it was one of those days that was so dense and full of big things happening, I just had a lot to process.

I had also decided to resign as president of my daughters school as my business is growing so much, my time is allocated for that and I don't have the time for all the responsibility for the school. I did not want to resign...as I don't want to let the school down, however, I know this is the best choice for my family and me personally.

In any case, I went to bed at midnight and at one am I was WIDE awake..with my heart racing(110 beats per minute, my usual HR is about 60 bpm)...pounding...and even hurting a bit. I knew it was the dread of resigning. I could not fall back asleep. So after an hour of lying in bed...and just finger tapping and talking in my head for a while with a little results...I remembered something I read by Wayne Dwyer recently. "If you are in bed, unable to sleep, feeling stressed, turn on the light. Dark has a lower energy than light. Put yourself into the light. Your perceived stresses will seem much less menacing in the light"

So, I reluctantly got out of bed(freezing wintery house) Went to the living room, turned on the lights and made some tea. I sat in front of a space heater and tapped....on the left side of my body(the side that felt negative and fearful, oh and the side that my heart is on~LOL)
"Even though I am afraid I will not fall asleep at all tonite...I deeply and completely accept myself"
Then I tapped a couple rounds with the reminder"I am afraid I will not fall asleep at all tonite"
Then I tapped on the right side of my body "I choose to find it easy to fall asleep tonite" on the right side of my body for a few rounds.
Then I tapped alternating at points on the left side of my body...
~I am afraid I will not fall asleep at all tonite
alternating with
~I choose to find it easy to fall asleep..
And tapped this way for three rounds. For example on the top of the head I tapped saying the negative phrase, then on the eyebrow I tapped saying the positive phrase and kept going through all the points.
Then I tapped the positive phrase only on the left side of my body
~I choose to find it easy to fall asleep tonite
for three rounds.
Then I went into bed and fell asleep in about 5 minutes. I slept hard until morning!!!
