Are you willing to share your story of why you did not join?
Or why you did?
Michelle
Michelle, I think what you need is some Father Joe homilies. This really has nothing to do with your op, I was just thinking about if you were here I could take you to church w/ me, and then I remembered, hey, you can watch my church online. :)

Also Ann,
Anything you think of to share or suggest, please feel free to do so. I'm most of the way through my book and it has helped a lot. This week, I'm planning on going to the local parish (I'm going to call the priest first and make sure it is OK) and what I want to do is just sit and pray. I feel this is something I must do. I also made a rosary for myself (a knotted one following the rosary army directions online and this is something I now enjoy....such a gentle feeling of peace praying)
Anyway, any suggestions....PM me or whatever. I'm always open and please keep us in your prayers. (I know you do)
Michelle

I listened to the one from today. I loved it! Imagine my suprise when I saw who Big Al was!! What a neat parish. I'll listen to the other Homily's over the next several weeks. Thank you....what a nice church.

me.
I spent about 7 years being very active in the Catholic church before deciding once and for all that I'm not going to be Catholic. I spent about three years singing in the choir, I participated in the women's group, and I did Just Faith (a very intensive social justice course). I had thought about next doing RCIA, but by the end of Just Faith, I knew I was done.
It wasn't any one thing. There are lots of great things about many of the Catholics I met. I've had a few really really great priests. It just never felt like home. It is so culturally different from my comfort zone that I just never was going to fit. And, there were theological problems that I had.

That makes sense and I really do understand what you are saying because I've found myself in a demonination where I just realized that it was not the correct place for me.
I really appreciate your response. It is good to find where we really do belong in Gods family and I hope I can find the answers I seek and I hope you have found your place too. (I think you have from my often-bad memory of other posts here over time)
Thanks again,
Michelle

nope, haven't found it. DH is catholic and I absolutely want to support that. I think I would like UU. But, I don't know how I can make it happen.
I really admire your faith journey Michelle. It takes time, just keep at it. And don't expect that everything is going to feel perfect and come together just so. It's ok to have some doubts or issues with the process.
I think I recommended this book to you before, but it is called Rome Sweet Home and I think you'd enjoy reading it.

Thanks. I so appreciate your help and answering all my questions.
I just want to live my life as close to God as possible and living out my life how He wants me to. The one area where I have had greatest struggle has been finding a church to attend and worship at. I do feel more and more that I may have found it. I'm going to attend for a while and see what I think before committing to anything. I know you have me in prayer and that means so much to me.
Michelle
It sounds like you're going to be closer to God than I am! You better pray for me!!! :)
I studied through the Catholic church's conversion program, was baptised and confirmed in the Catholic church. Stayed a few years and moved on. I've explored many churches and right now we're attending a Lutheran church we enjoy.

Hi Barb,
I did not know that. I attended RCIA (the adult classes you are probably talking about) a few years ago but dropped out after 2 classes.
I've been studying on my own for the past few months. I agree with the basic beliefs and love the structure and history and the worship service.....I may have found my place. We'll see.......
