help talk me down mamas. . . so much is going on in my life right now. . . and i'm feeling insecure and worthless . .
i'm not quite sure grade-wise where an almost 10yo is, her birthday's in May if that helps.
We have a ton of workbooks here (they love those go figure) and we have tons of art stuff, they can knit, they like to help cook (but we havent' done that in forever, see again with the guilt), we visit the library.
We do units for history & science and stuff, we're doing 1910ish - 1930s in America with a focus on women's rights during this era, and incorperating unions, big business, the "red scare" that broke the unions, etc etc etc etc . . . so I don't hae a doubt about history but I know we could use some more science stuff.
The 7yo is so far able to do all the work the older dd is doing. . . the older dd also started slower because of her dyslexia, so reading can be troublesome for her.
Math is pretty much fine except division/money/time. We've done money and time and it's like, if we're not doing it all the time then it's fine, but if you leave it alone for a couple months I feel like they have retained nothing, is this normal?
We have a ton of books here, science and reading both, reading for fun and reading for learning, they get four good magazines (combined) between grandparents and such, so it's not a lack of materials, I think it's me.
Yes, I can find my state's guidelines for grade, but stuff like
"2. The student understands the meaning of what is read.
2.1. Demonstrate evidence of reading comprehension.
2.2. Understand and apply knowledge of text components to comprehend text.
2.3. Expand comprehension by analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing information and ideas in literary and informational text.
2.4. Think critically and analyze author’s use of language, style, purpose, and perspective in literary and informational text. "
is kinda vague don't'cha think? This is for 3rd grade. *sigh*
