Oh well, I'm a little late for the pilot program.
A complete enrollment package, including a copy of the student’s birth certificate, proof of residency, and immunization forms, must be received by noon (EST) on January 18, 2008 to be eligible for the lottery.

If they don't fill up with the lottery, they will continue to take applications. Texas got it last year and they continued to take new students throughout the first year because they were not full.

Here (http://www.amitymama.com/vb/alternative-learning/373461-georgia-virtual-academy-k12.html) is another thread about K12. It is definitely a love it or hate it program.

I couldn't see using it but I don't like being told what to do. LOL I could see it being too much for dd2, plus we wouldn't have the time to do our own interest studies. It's public school at home.

It is a LOT of work, but I like the scheduled regime of it. It is also the only way DH would consent to pulling DS out of school. We like the accountability of the program.
K12 the curriculum is also available to independent users, but the OLS access is costly and necessary. There are offline books and activities but the heart of K12 is the OLS for the screenshows/interactive lessons in science, history, art and the skills review in math. The novel units in grades 3 and up are not printed anywhere--only via OLS. It would be cost prohibitive for us to use K12 for all subjects if we were buying it outright.
