I need recommendations for the summer. We are driving from Florida to Michigan and I'd like to play some educational CDs. Any favorites? My children are 5, 7 and 10.

What about DVDs, esp. animated series. My younger 2 still much prefer animated. We love, but have exhaused, the Magic School Bus series. Anything like that would be fabulous.

Someone at my homeschool group mentioned Liberty's Kids.

Anything else worth buying (I will be w/o library access for a while :sob: ).

Hmm the 5 yr old might enjoy the Leap Frog DVDs but I'm not sure about the others. I'll start thinking...

My 9 yr DS and 4 yr DD love the Popular Mechanics for Kids dvds. Cyberchase is another program that my kids enjoy and they have dvds as well. Your 5 yr old might like SuperWhy (and I know my 9 r old still does, not that he would admit it).

Also, do you have cable with dvr or tivo and a dvd recorder? A friend tivos shows for her kids and her DH burns custom dvds of them.

The Electric Company. It's awsome. :) My kids also like Planet Earth (omgoodness this is beautiful!), Mr Rogers Neighborhood, Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, Arctic Tale (the new movie from the maker of March of the Penguins)... and of course, March of the Penguins. :D

Thank you for the awesome suggestions ladies! :heart: I have written them down and will check out some samples from the library then order what the children like.

So many of them look great: The HBO Artist Specials, Popular Mechanics for Kids, The Time Warp Trio, Planet Earth -- and I had fogotten about the Electric Co.

I think it will be a good summer media-wise.:)
