She went to PS for eighth grade, Jan-June. She picked up a lot of negative attitudes, like drugs are okay, sex is okay...they're not a big deal. She also became more withdrawn and depressed. However, there was drama and she misses the "he said/she said" aspect, lol.She would also have this "look at me" mentality in public. She would act out so dramatically that the parents that were chaperoning her told me that she was out of control. Not in a bad way, but she was loud, saying she loved eveyone, offering free hugs all the time...there's a time and place for that kwim?
I am wrong to think that she's going to be grateful for me sending her on cool field trips, getting her opportunities to job shadow, getting her involved in helping run this teen art gallery. I am also looking into her taking a college course for high school and college credit despite my thinking that she is too emotionally immature. I think she would spend most of the time looking at girls' hair and ogling boys but I digress...
Whenver she spends time with her PS friend, she comes back grumpy, saying she wants to go to PS. Oddly enough, her friend is told that she is a fat @ss daily and would love to be HS.
I am not against PS. Just for my DD at this point of her life.
