My milk supply has been great, up until yesterday... I have a 3 week old little girl, and because we're on the go rather a lot, I pump. I usually get between 6-9 oz per pump session. But yesterday, I pumped at 8am and started getting a migraine at around 11am. I fell asleep with my daughter around 3pm and when I woke at about 5pm I couldn't stand straight the migraine was so bad. I had a temperature of around 102 degrees but it slowed to 99 degrees after I took some Tylenol and slept 'till 9pm. The thing is, I tried pumping before I fell asleep at about 6pm yesterday and only got 2 oz. I've been trying to pump every 2-3 hours since then, but haven't been able to get any more than that... I'm scared my daughter isn't going to be getting enough to eat... o.o

Hi,

Welcome to Amity. First off, your baby is always the best way of getting milk out of your breast. The pump is a distant second in comfort or efficiency. Try latching on your babe and get him/her working to make the amount of milk she needs whenever and for as long as s/he needs.

Second, if you have a three week old, it might be a good idea to try to back off of all of the activity for a bit until you have recovered from childbirth and gotten your breastfeeding relationship established. Those first few months are hard, and going slower, savoring your baby, drinking enough fluids, eating enough and sleeping enough are all important factors in creating a sustaining, satisfying and happy breastfeeding relationship.

I hope your migraine is better, the surely do suck!
Hugs,
Misty
