it's with Kaplan test prep center here in town. $20-$28 per hour, so really good for a second/nights/weekends sort of job. they call the interviews "auditions." he has to prepare a 5 min class on a non-academic subject.

dh took the GMAT, MCAT, and LSAT before he went to law school and scored above the 95th %tile on all. and he got a perfect score on the math part of the SAT in high school, as did his 2 brothers. he's the absolute perfect person to teach these test prep classes.

i'm SO excited that he applied. i sent him a link (go me!) on email, he applied online the next day, and then got a call about an hour after he sent his app through saying they wanted him to "audition" on friday. woo hoo!

gives me hope that we're going to be ok financially. i need more hope oh about...i'd say...every 4 days or so. lol.

Cool, I hope it works out for you guys. I was offered an audition several months ago as well. I ended up skipping it though since the distance to the center basically killed any chance of income.

My dh worked for Kaplan through grad school and it helped him a ton financially. He was able to take on as much work as he wanted.

i had to lol at the way you put it. i can not stop "laughing" at how excited i am about a *second* job. i mean, the last thing i want is for dh to be working at all nights and/or weekends. but...at the moment, paying the bills is a wonderful trade. see you in a few months, honey! lol.

thanks for everyone's thoughts. it's at 4 today. they said to bring a resume, which was on a now dead computer. we had all of the stuff on the old computer put on this new one, but he couldn't find the resume anywhere. so...good thing it's at 4. he'll be writing a resume today (couldn't find a hard copy anywhere either).

Hm, you should just plug in the harddrive to a new computer and get the info off of it.

oh...we did that and passed the computer along (to juliebelle's kids...i forgot...it's NOT dead...just OLD). just can't find it on the new computer where we thought all of that stuff was put.

hmmm...that computer is sitting in my carport storage right now (as my kids got upgraded when i did)...do you think it's still on there?

Oh, I worked for Princeton Review a long time ago. Because they work so hard to engage high school kids, it's a lot of fun! I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.

aw darn, herc. wish it were closer to you. we have kaplan and princeton review here...and another tutoring place. might be looking into it myself after we figure out if what dh can do will be enough money for us and what his hours will be.

i am talking like he got the job, but he hasn't quite yet. he said he was by far the best out of the 3 presentations today during the audition. lol. he'll know by monday if they send him on to an interview, but the judges or whatever they call themselves talked as if they would def be interviewing him. anyway...i'm sure he'll get it. he'll get paid to train 3-7pm on friday for 4 weeks starting april 18. so not really enough money soon enough, but it'll be ok...and great if he can teach 8 or 10 hours/week. no idea how that works.
