View Full Version : kid room organizing!
Please help!
I am so very burned out from moving that I have zero inspiration on how to cram all this stuff into this tiny room!
Anyone want to take a peek at the pics I have in the link below?
Puh-lease???

do it when you're ready. that's what i would do, but then again, i am procrastinator #1.
Maybe put some shelves in the closet to hold all the toys.
We actually don't keep all the toys in the bedroom, they're in other places in the house where they play with them. (actually they're all over the floor. lol)
oh, I am ready to not see it look like this! Lol. THAT is my motivation to do it.
I was thinking of some sort of shelving in the closet, installing some sort of lower pole so they could reach their stuff.
I am trying to do this on little to zero cost for me for supplies....
and yes, Ann, with the CUTE baby in your sig, toys ARE all over the floor.

If you're trying to do this cheap/free, I would suggest putting the plastic colored bin/shelf in the closet. Ask me how I know ;) Im not sure how big your closet is, but I was able to fit our plastic bins/shelf in the closet, fill the bins with some toys. We seperated mr potato head pieces, some train tracks, cars, etc..
The big rubbermaid bins you have I would empty and then go thru all the toys in the room to see what gets played with daily. Things that do not, I would put in those bins and then put them in the basement or garage and take a few things out every now and then.
Put the dresser where your bookshelf is, then move the bookshelf where the dresser was but at an angle, and put the little chair at each end of it, if you have two put both of them there for a little reading area, the window will be good light for it.
Let them pick a few (3) stuffed animals or baby dolls to put on each bed, the rest go in a bin to be played with later. Put those barbie cars that are under the bed in one of the large rubbermaid bins.
What do you have in the bins under the bed?

I waited til the kids were home from school. We had a snack then started in.
All big tubs emptied. The kids even parted with a few toys..WILLINGLY!
there was another shelf in closet with plastic bins in it. they held shoes. I moved shoes to the net thing I have that hangs on their door (it has little pockets in it, perfect for kid shoes), and it is out of the way behind their door.
Took a quick trip to the thrift store to see what I could find for shelving and I scored on that white shelf in the new pics...for $6! It has an adorable handpainted mural on the side of Sesame Street characters and Winnie The Pooh. All rainbowy, with a sun and flowers. I don't have the heart to paint over it just yet.
The bins under the bed- re-organized them. They now have babydolls and clothes, and the other one is all dress-up stuff. Other items under the bed are Barbie cars and musical instruments (2 drums).
I just finished vacuuming, while the girls watched a movie.
TA DA!
It looks like a rat cage now!!
lol
So... when you coming over to organize my house?
