I think we've done this before; I'm just curious.

Since 4 wasn't an option alone, I chose 5 or 6 children. But I think 4 kids makes a pretty large family. 3 or less are just average to me.

I think 4 or more kids too! I'm still getting use to the stares that people give me when I bring all my kids out by myself. The seniors would say nice family to me and others would give me the stares that say I must be crazy!:(

I consider 4 or more children a large family. I get strange looks all of the time when I take all 4 of mine out.

Honestly, I would consider a family LARGE starting around 4 or 5...then they just get largER.

I grew up with 4 siblings and never thought of our family as large, really, but knew other people did. Now that we are adding number 4 to ours, I think it's a bit large, truthfully...but that may have more to do with their ages.

I consider mine larger than average but not large (4 kids). I think when we did this before we figured out everyone felt "large" was bit more than what they had.

We have five and I don't see us as a large family. However I'm reminded that we are when we go places. We can't stay in one standard hotel room, we can't sit in one regular size booth, etc. To me, five feels just right - not large. I picked 9-10 as large. ;)

4 is my answer too. But I went with 3-4 because 4 wasn't an option.

4 was my first thought. 3 seems average for me, b/c thats what we have and thats what my own family was growing up.

I think that with blended families this number SOARS! I have seven brothers and five sisters BUT that is step and half and they have never all been in the same place together. My husband is his mother's only child but his dad remarried when he was a teen to a woman with two toddler daughters and then together they had three more so he went from an only child 14 year old boy to eventually having five sisters.

I feel a little out of place posting in this forum since I have only one child. But I think 4 or more children is a big family.

It might be the area where we live or the people I hang with. 2 children is average, 3 is a little less common, and there are only a few families with 4 or more children. The biggest family I personally around here know has 6 children and their family seems very big to me.

In the end, I think this perception is all about perspective.

I picked 5-6. I have 5 and when I go out with just the 4 little ones I feel like I am going to have a heart attack. They never listen to me. :vent:

But seriously I think that like 6 plus mom and dad is starting to be a big family.

I voted 3 or 4, but not sure that 3 really qualifies. Seems huge to me when doing laundry or cleaning up after a meal though.

4 or more is what I think, but I voted 5-6. 1 is small, 2-3 is average. :)

i voted 4-5 because 4+ wasn't an option.

i _know_ we have a big family with our 5, but as they get older, it seems like a "normal/average" size family, imo.

well I have 8 and I don't feel like it is a large family, so I never post here

I picked 9-10 but really I think once you hit 10 it is getting large!

I think 5 or more is considered large. I grew up with 3 siblings and 4 children in one family doesn't seem like a large family to me, even in a 900 sq ft house, lol.

I'm pregnant with # 3 right now and I keep getting the comments about having a large family at this point.

i voted 5-6, and we have three maybe 4, but I think that at 4 it starts to get big. but with that siad I like even numbers and think we need one more inthe family to even things out! LOL!

Yeah, I figured not right now. Um, because you'd be starting to show. Well, unless you've been having a secret affair you haven't told me about.

As a family with 6, I don't see "large family" until there are 10 or more children.
