I found the pattern for a mystery quilt. Each week (or however long) I will post new directions. You won't know what the quilt looks like until I give you the directions to piece it all together.
I have made this quilt and it is pretty easy and looks good. I will give instructions for a lap 52"x72" and a full size 80x100.
**FABRICS** LAP FULL
Background Fabric~~ 2 1/2 yards 4 1/2yrd
This can be light or dark. The background is used as large pieces in some places
First Accent~~ 1 3/4yrd 2 3/4yrd
This fabric should have strong contrast with the background.
Second Accent~~2 1/2 yrds 3 3/4yrds
This yardage includes a wide outer border As directed above, this fabric should have strong contrast with the back ground.
The most important thing about selecting fabrics for a mystery is CONTRAST!! There should be strong contrast between the background fabric and the other two. The two accent fabrics do not need to be strongly contrasting with each other. In fact, this could be a 2 fabric quilt, in which case, you would use the same fabric for both the accent pieces, but I prefer the addition of the third fabric. Do not use directional fabrics unless you are prepared to ignore their prints.
This is going to be a fun one! I have to figure out how to put these instructions on here, because some have illistrations (any help would be awsome!).... but for the meantime, get your fabrics all figured outhttp://www.amitymama.com/images/icons/smile.gif
