I need practical steps I need to be taking to wean my 22 month old off the breast at night. I am a full time working mom and currently my son sleeps with us in our bed and breastfeeds throughout the night. I am at the point now where I am physically not capable of going much longer and feel that it is time to stop. I have spent a total of 2 nights apart ever since he was born and from what dh tells me he is up every two hours asking for the breast and cries when he sees that I am not around and keeps dh up all night long. I figured we need to first get him off the breast and this habit of snacking throughout the night and then tackle the whole issue of moving him out of our bed later. What do you think? And has anyone gone through this kind of situation and weaned successfully from continous night feeds and lived to tell about it? Help!!!:)

First of all I'm very sorry you aren't sleeping well. Jake (he's 3 1/2 ) would wake at all times of the night to nurse. I was a zombie most nights . I read someone say that when their children didn't eat so well during the daytime they nursed more at night.
Is your son picky during the day time?
You might want to post this question in the Marketplace. I'm sure you would get tons of response.

Although I do hope you are sleeping better by now.:)

Have you looked at the method by Dr. Jay Gordon? The website won't come up right now (I hope it is still there) but it is www.drjaygordon.com. He has an article on nightweaning. We used it w/ our youngest. Good luck!
