here's my c&p from artful stitchery at MD...

Andrew bought a suit at one of those men's warehouse places. It's a nice suit, black w/ red and white tiny pinstripes. He bought it for my brother's wedding in February.

The jacket fits him beautifully... But the pants... *sigh* They fit, but they fit, as he calls it "Steve Harvey Style".

Andrew likes his pants a certain way. The dude wears women's jeans because he prefers the fit :D He wears cowboy boots, so he enjoys the flare that he gets from women's jeans and he likes where they sit on his hips. He wants to try to get the suit pants to fit like his jeans.

I told him that I thought I could alter the legs (taper the knee, etc) for him, but the problem lies in the crotch region, lol. This is the "Steve Harvey Style" issue.

I need to get some pics of him in the pants, and will try to do it this weekend... But... here's an idea of the problem -

see how the pants are kind of baggy through the crotch?

He wants them to fit more the way that jeans fit - not tight in the crotch, but not hanging down from his crotch.

It seems to me that you should be able to pull the waistband w/ the belt loops, etc off and just cut off about 4" from the rise in the front and back and it would work for him.

I told him we could take it to a seamstress, but I think I'd trust some of you expert folks here more than I'd trust some lady who just hems pants at the laundromat, you know?

So, is this something that can be done? I told him to give me a pair of jeans that he could bear parting ways with so that I could send them w/ the suit pants and maybe they could be pulled apart together and then put back together using the jeans as a template.

Is this too much work for a pair of suit pants? For what it's worth, he won't wear the suit pants as they are because of the way they fit. If it's a total wash, we won't be out anything, iykwim.

Ok... I'm subbing to this thread with hopes that someone will volunteer.

Thanks, y'all!

take them to a good seamstress...not a laundromat. have him wear the jeans he likes to show her what he wants the pants to fit like.

look under "tailor" - it'll cost a bit more, but you'll find what you need.
