I'm trying to figure out what I can do, what I need to prep for? and what I really want to try to grow.
I have imo the perfect spot for a small garden, I'm not sure if I want to defiently do a raised bed or if I should just dig into the ground not knowing what kinda soil I'm really dealing with...
I'm so new at this lol this is the first garden I'm able to plan and we will probably -- hopefully be at this house for a few years.
Feeling overwhelmed already LOL

I want garlic. But, I think I'm going to have to wait for 2009 to get it because I think I'll have to plant it in the fall around here.

okay, you know that in other parts of the country it gets cold in the winter  the ground is currently frozen. Isn't really workable until about mid to late April.

I have started my seeds as well! I always get really excited this time of year and start more than I can use.
I will be setting out onions tomorrow, if it doesnt rain.

I am planning one, but am not sure how to lay it all out. We want to grow corn and it seems to me that it should be on one side of the garden so it doesn't shade the other veggies but I am not sure what side. I would love a website to see other garden layouts for planting. I am not sure how big it is going to be yet, but I want a huge garden, lol. In the fall we busted our buts cutting down a couple of older trees for the garden space and then expanded our driveway in order to get dirt to fill up where the trees was, it sloped down hill really bad. I am not sure what I need to do to prepare the soil yet either. Our soil is mostly claylike, so I know we have to add some good black dirt first and I want to make a compost pile too. I did plant a few cloves of garlic in the fall and we had a warm spell a couple of weeks ago, and now I have noticed that the garlic has sprouted!?! I hope it is not too early for it. Anyway I did choose a seed catalogue and am going to go with open pollinated seeds that are sometimes heirlooms compared to hybrids.
