We're on our way out the door to pick up Nico and I just got word from her Mama that she has the stomach bug. Looks like it will be another mellow day for us.

Probably if Nico rests, I will take the time to work with Kaya a bit on her Mammals poster and play Memory with the Dolch sight words. On the way home, I can check the library for any good documentaries or movies. Kaya will fill in the weather and temp. info onto her calender page.

We've got a stack of new books to read, so that should fill out a light day for us. :)

What about you?

We have a totally crazy therapy day today. I accidentally overbooked again...lol. So during the morning, the girls will follow the list of assignments that I wrote on the chalkboard...worksheets, reading time, and journaling. Then after lunch we will do a lesson on insects and then finish our T-Rex. We have a health lesson planned too about nutrition and a project to make a food pyramid.. And we'll finish up with some reading about Jamestown.

I'm letting Aidan sleep late, but I promised him last night that when he wakes up this morning we'd read more of the Magic School Bus Whale watch chapter book.

I want to make a trip to the library to return all the holiday and winter books and pick up a bunch of sea life books and maybe movies, so we'll be ready to start really schooling again next Monday.

creative writing excersise dealing with cause and effect and goods and services.

We just got back from the french cafe where we discussed things relevant to what we'd been studying this week (king tut, gods etc. human body, mummies) we also discussed differant languages world communities.

Miles is writting a letter right now. Then we'll make a collage on want's and needs.

language lesson (very brief) on pronouns

Discuss wants and needs.

Read about baby moses and make a moses basket. Play uno.

play play play. Dh may take them into the woods for a hike while I run the river trails later today.

oh, and Reed did his first tracing today! He grips a block crayon and can trace now. Very big deal to him:lol:

He's making a paper chain today with his wee little scissors. It's about time I incorporated him in something. Life may actually become easier... Or bearable anyway!
Read, read, read.

Math: Saxon lesson and Webkinz Booger Gets an A (beat previous high score)
Reading: Free reading at least 15 minutes
Journal: Type on computer
Handwriting
PE: yoga (didn't get to it yesterday)
Music: band

She got to go to the bank with me when I opened my small business checking account. She played with her sister at their Lego table. I was amazed about one thing. She had a book bag with her. I thought it just had some fun books in it so I told her to bring it into the bank. When I was done opening my account, I saw that her math book was out. She worked on her math first! WOW!

She really wants to get some purple nail polish so is trying to get her work done quickly. I give her a lot of credit for that. I don't think she's done with her work yet, but I think I'll surprise her after lunch. ;)

Bible: Intro to book of Ecclesiastes, sing song of Old Testament books for memorization, read story 'A son for Abraham' and plot story on timeline, introduce new verse (Proverbs 11:25)

Reading: workbook page with vocab words that relate to todays story, kids read from their readers with today's story, kids write and illustrate in their notebooks about todays story

Math: calender page, # of the day activities (plot on number line, count out in cents, add popcorn kernel to 10stick jar, add number to hundred number charts and fill out number of the day worksheet), timer goes off all day every 30mins and the kids determine what time it is and record on their daily schedules and draw a picture/write of what they are doing at that moment (basically all day discussion on time/clocks)

Science: introduction to new unit on 'Snow and Ice' as read from Usborne Things Outdoors book

We STILL have not made it to the YMCA to swim, but I'm going to quite saying I'm planning for it- I am but I am gettting a complex the more days I post about doing it and don't. I also still haven't made it to the store for some needed grocery homeschool supplies (building with sugar cubes, jello to do a layered rainbow, 2008 calender, laminating...), plus I need to do some shipping and do a library run. Its the beginning of a weekend so I have plans to knock out all these errands, do the Y trip, and some other personal to-do lists before the new week.

I have a lot to get in order before our family goes on a west coast train trip for 2 weeks starting next Thursday (including SeaWorld)!

Our main learning thing today will be going to the beach and seeing if we can spot some humpback whales on their migration route! :)

This morning my ds was looking at a World War 1 book that he got from the library and wanted to make a mask like the one the pilots on the war wore. So we got out a fabric scrap and measured his head and how big we should make the mask, drew it out and then cut it out of fabric. It didn't look too bad for a spur of the moment thing.

Then he was pretending he was a pilot in the war and asked me to make up some math problems for how much supplies he would need. He wrote a list of the things he would need to bring.

Later we looked at a book of German counting. And I asked him (using German numbers) some simple math problems aloud. He thought that was a lot of fun.

Tonight we went to Barnes and Noble and he bought a spy kit and a spy book with a gift card he had. So he's been doing some spy problem sovling things from the kit since then.
