Here's the general plan for the day for Kaya:

~Mark the temperature and weather on the January calender sheet that we printed from Author Jan Brett's Home Page - A Great Place for Ideas (http://www.janbrett.com) yesterday. (It'll be a cold one, 17 degrees now!)

~Review primary and secondary colors, warm and cool colors as Kaya uses the pattern blocks.

~Play a few games of Memory using the Dolch sight words that I printed off of kidzone.com

~Write a thank you note, review home address as she addresses the envelopes.

~Activity pages on mammals printed from edHelper.com - Math, Reading Comprehension, Themes, Lesson Plans, and Worksheets (http://www.edhelper.com)

~Review when/how to call 911 using the home phone and cell phone, see if she can remember the whole address etc.

~Work with counting change again. Have her draw items from a pretend store, choose prices and figure out how much two different items would cost.

~Read the last 3 books that have to go back to the library today and choose another ten ( plus maybe a DVD) to bring home.

~Later on, maybe play Webkiz and gamegoo.

Since my public school kids have one more day off, today's plan is life skills (aka housework). :hahaha:

Ok, I'll stop being so silly and get back on task... tomorrow.

We are on break this week since we still have family in town, so we are working on interpersonal skills (playing with others) and life skills also.

We still need to:

We started Time4Learning this week so mama doesn't have to think a whole heck of a lot. My brain is fried this year.

Isn't time4learning just language and math? I looked into it breifly for Kaya because she loves using the computer but I thought I read it was just those two subjects.

Nope - Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science.

Then, they have this thing called LA Extensions. It has spiders, volcanoes, hygiene - just a whole bunch of other things in there.

I like that it's self-led - so my girly who has issues can go as slow as she needs to and isn't overwhelmed, and my older who is advanced can soar.

We always do crafty artsy things, life skills, and physical activity in the house. But, they were spending a lot of time on the computer and this just made it SO much easier.

Sounds neat. I am interested in checking it out, but the cheapskate in me doesn't want to shell out the $20, yk? Let me know what you think about it once your girls have used it for a few weeks, ok?

I don't blame you. They have a free two week trial, but I did have to give them a debit card number to sign up, so I'm not sure how it works (if they charge our card on the 1st of the month since I signed up yesterday morning or if they wait two weeks and start the 30 day billing period then).

Anywhoo - I'll keep you updated :D

(And if you add another child it's $14.99 for an additional child - so it's like $420 a year for my school-aged kids.)

We put up ds's new calendar. He marks off the days every morning.

He worked on cursive writing and then wrote out a poem that he thought of.

Played some math games.

Did some reading, now he's playing drums and making up some new songs.

I wasn't feeling up to much so ds did a maze and a math worksheet, and then he did some social studies questions on Webkinz and he is smarter than I thought he was. ;) He knew what an architect was, but not a seamstress.
