This is a WORKING machine. Now.... well ... umm... go look. (http://cgi.ebay.com/SINGER-401-Vintage-Antique-57-SEWING-MACHINE-Table_W0QQitemZ170132995722QQihZ007QQcategoryZ605Q QrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem)

I came across that 'rare antique' when searching for a slide plate for my 401. It's like a train wreck... I can't stop looking. All I wanted was a replacement slide plate... and I find THAT!!!

I think I'll swap plates between my 401 and the 500 for now. I have to detox my eyes from the 'upgrade' given to the machine.... and the asking price. I guess a hot glue gun can add thousands in value to a machine.

:drop: :shake: W.T.F.??
I may have to watch that just to see if someone takes it!

It was horrifying. The thumbnail shots looked like it was covered in barnacles. It would have been better if it was when looking at the larger pics.

Your eyes have been spared.... count yourself among the lucky ones.

Interesting....ummm...no. Wow, I'd never think to do anything like that.

cracking up how it's identified as an antique. As if it has any value as such in its current state. Frightful!

WHy ruin a perfectly functional machine like that. Was it even worth the listing fees to put that one up? What upgrades?

I have an old Domestic with a similar cabinet which has been a real wonderful machine but its heavy and the stitches aren't too even and no one ever wants it when I try to sell it or give it away.

It is in my mom's garage right now because we pass it back and forth and she is 'it'!

Doing something like that artistic doodling would be cathartic for me.

LOL.

Wow! That was awful!

As for the machine itself, one of my machines looks identical (from the bits I can see!).
I was given it for nothing and I really don't think it's worth very much anyway.
I hope no-one buys this!

Pass it on this way. ;) I collect orphan machines. Love 'em.... got about 13 now from 1905-2005

What was done to that machine is just sick and wrong!

Wish I could. It is metal and weighs as much as a tank (or two)!

Ugly, tasteless, and pointlessly destroying the usefulness of a working machine, oh, and expensive. There must be some reflection of modern consumerism in this "artistic" statement. I can't think of the perfect, clever way to put it in words, but I am appalled.
