They are calling my husbands employer and my mom, is there a way to stop them from doing this?

The person they are calling will have to verbally say at the time on the phone, DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN! and keep documentation and threaten to report them. Otherwise, no.

If the collection is something that you owe they cannot call other people and bother them unless they cosigned with you on it. All you need to do to get them to stop calling is to tell them to stop calling.

Unless the laws have changed over the past 5 yrs, this isn't completely the case. You can call neighbors or who ever you want to leave a message for a return call. HOWEVER, they are not allowed to discuss the debt.

How are they discussing this with your relatives? Did you list them as references too? Still can't discuss the debt with a reference, but can tell them that they are listed as a contact point and you need a call back. People are smart and will figure out it has to do with a debt though.

I used to work for Ford Credit for 6 yrs.

I am not even sure what the debt is yet. I hate that they called my hubbies work, it is really embarrasing. I am thinking it is for my medical bills from about 6 months ago. I will askl my Mom and dh employer to tell them to quit calling. This sucks! Thank you for the info, I think it is perfectly legal just embarassing.
