Amazon.com: Canon PowerShot SX100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black): Camera & Photo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V1VG4W/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
Amazon.com: Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom: Camera & Photo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V1VG2E/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
Amazon.com: Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom: Electronics (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B000Q3043Y/ref=pd_bbs_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1195087748&sr=8-4)

I want a new camera. I have been researching for days and these are the ones it's come down to. Amazon.com: Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom: Electronics (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B000Q3043Y/ref=pd_bbs_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1195087748&sr=8-4) is also an option, but it's a lot of money and I have no desire to go pro or even semi-pro. I just want to take good pictures of my kids. The G9 has all the features I want except it seems like it'd be too heavy or bulky.

Any one have any of these cameras and can give a personal review?

I know this is an old post, but I just got this one and I like it so far. Keep in mind, though, that I know squat about photography. The pictures in my Christmas pictures thread were taken with that camera. I love the zoom on it!

I ended up going with the A720IS and I couldn't be happier with it.

We got this a few months back and love it. My parents bought one first and then we got one.

One thing that really struck me, is that in our situation and I am sure there are others, we had a $500 camera from a few years back and felt like, well we have this expensive digital camera. However, the technology has gone up so much and the prices come down, that spending $250ish (I think we actually paid less than that but got a memory card) we got a camera that was sooooooooo much better than our old one. I even like taking the little movies with this thing. Anyhow, this new camera makes our old digital photos look so bad lol I wish we had upgraded sooner. One of my goals it to really learn how to use this camera because it does a lot!

Yeah I want to learn how to use it too, maybe buy another lens for it. It has been my best camera so far.

My husband has the step down and he loves it too. He actually recommended the one I have to me.
