I am brewing my first batch as we speak? Anyone else do this?

no hon that is a kefir tibetan mushroom. this is a kombucha mushroom.

You guys can keep that ALL away from me!!!! :barf: I like kefir from the store, and that's about as far as it goes for me, even though all my friends are swapping grains like crazy, and keep offering me some; and my IL's used to grow kombucha, and it didn't do squat for me! Of course, that MIGHT have been because I was trying to beat off strep and didn't know it..ya think?? :p Either way, I have NO desire to go back to drinking that vinegar drink again! :lol:

I am at my 3rd batch and it is going good. I am not drinking it 3xs a day yet and it has helped with a few things already. Mine is white and thick like a patty.

We used to brew kombucha all the time until we moved and our dear baby was ruined. If someone has one to share I would gladly pay shipping. We found it really helpful for us and really miss having it.

I say in a large ziploc triple bagged with a cup of your tea to help for starter. I would then surrond with bubble wrap or something. I am thinking you send yours to randah since mine may be awhile. What you think?

I'm cool with sharing I have 2 extra ones ready to start in a new home. ANd they are ready to split again. They are really doing good. I was wondering how long do you use the first one for?? Do you throw them out or just let them build up? Send me your adress and I can send them out this friday or weekend, and then you can just shoot the shipping back to me.

I tried this about 2 years or so ago....

I was trying to treat systemic candida...I don't think it did a thing for that.

I have read about it being a miracle tea, and have tried and tried to drink it. It makes my tummy feel warm like I have been drinking tequila. Not too unpleasant but it was hard to get used to.

I had like 4 lovely mushrooms, and had a hard time finding people to take them. I ended up givign them to the ladies who work at the local health food store, and composted one of them.

Now, if I am feelign experimental, I just buy a bottle fo the kombucha tea mixed with ginger i think.
the ginger helps it from tasting like straight vinegar.

Do you know anything about it being too acidic for someone who has acid problems? I think my system needs more base than acid...if that makes sense..I tend to crave cooling foods more often that warming foods..like celery

KJ, if you haven't already I would seriously put a rubber band around the top of the cloth covering your container. Don't ask how I know that you should do this because it will really gross you out!!

YES!! Maybe even something a little tighter like a coffee filter or like a white tee shirt. You dont want to have to throw it out. It is really gross.

Some friends of mine are planning on becoming missionaries to Russia and have been warned about Kombucha. I told them we have some at home and they couldn't believe it. I don't think many people have heard of it.
