Comfrey has long been known as a healing herb.
It has earned names such as knitbone and bruisewort (wort meaning plant)
The leaves, flowers, and roots are rich in allantoin which encourages RAPID cell regeneration.
Comfrey is useful for all manner of wounds, cuts, scrapes, bruises, hemorrhoids, sore nipples, broken ribs, hairline cracks, arthritic joints, pulled muscles, ligaments, sprains, disintigrating vertebrae, lung congestion
and more.
Apply as often as needed externally.
DO NOT USE on deep cut or puncture wounds until the skin has begun its own healing process since comfrey will speed up the healing prior to the wound draining and regenerating of the tissue.
There is debate over the safety of internal use due to the pyrrolizidine alkaloids that may damage the liver with long term potent use.
Pregnant and nursing women should not use comfrey internally since they seem to be more easily effected by the alkaloid.
However, traditional use as well as recent research shows in moderate amounts, it is safe to use internally.
No caution needed for external use however.
