hastings

I desperately need to get the last few things I owe people sewn as well as get Lorelei's school clothes made, make some nursing clothes for me, and get some stuff done for the new 'lil and I'm down to just about a month until the baby arrives so I've decided to do my own personal stash game starting at midnight last night. Since its obligitory to stay up late and sew yourself silly I made this tribal style belly dance belt at about 3 AM.

Here's my friend Kyoht in her scarf so you can see how they look when worn-- I made this one a couple of months ago

Since you don't often find the embroidered panels that are usually used for these, I bought an inexpensive cotton tapestry bedspread at a local gift store and cut off a corner. I've used 2 so far and still need to make one for me so I'm certainly getting my money's worth. Once I get the outer border used there is another set of four in different colors available by cutting the inner border. Then I just bordered and lined it with black and sewed the ties. Tassles are made from wool yarns and have loads of bounce.
Super simple and I'm really pleased since it would be a minimum of $80 to buy one of these. The tapestry was $20 (and I'll get at least 8 belts from it,) black poplin was a $3 a yard, and the yarns were bought on clearance for about $2 a skein-- I used 4 skeins or so per belt.
Personal stash game points
1 3/4 yard fabric= 14pts
3 yarns for tassles= 3pts
+1 sns
sub total +18
