Hey mamas,

Didn't know who else to ask and didn't find much online. Thought you all would be my best chance. Has anyone here ever "waterproofed" a duvet cover for a down comforter. I couldn't stand a heavy blanket on my legs anymore and at the end of winter I bought a down comforter on sale ... It have been terrific for a comfortable sleep. DS has been begging to use mine, they were on sale so I ordered one .. I thought I might zip it in an allergy cover, but would rather find a way to make the cotton duvet waterproof or at least resistant to protect it.

I tried washing the cover with Eucalan - thought the lanolin might do something, but I can't tell any difference ...Also, don't want to use anything flammable, or chemical.. any ideas?? Do your kids have/use one? how do you keep it clean. Thanks.

I have no clue about waterproofing cotton, other than ordering comething that already has a waterproofing on it?

I have a duvet cover for my down comforter as well as one of my dd's has a cover for hers... I just launder them like regular clothes, maybe with a little spot remover if needed.

Wouldn't "lanolizing" cotton make it greasy or spotty and make dirt stick to it easier? Just curious.

Good luck with your search.
