I noticed one of the gas lines (from the regulator thingy to the oven) is a little crimped - there's a dent that neither we nor the guys who loaded the range caused. It was in the box until it was 5 feet from where it was installed, so it should have been plenty safe from smushing, and nobody manhandled it roughly.

Now I'm going to have to ask them to replace the part. I want to keep the flipping stove now that I have it here, but I'm afraid the oven won't self-clean well or heat quickly if the gas flow is impeded.

Also, I bought a new line like Sarah recommended. And I wanted to get a female to female adaptor so I could use the safety valve that came with the new line. The weenie at Lowes asked me why I didn't just have the range delivered and installed. Maybe because we're talking about a little yellow teflon tape and a wrench and I've got it under control, thankyouverymuch - this is the sort of thing I enjoy doing. There are no leaks in my installation. I tested with my nose and some bubbles.

Anyway. It's pretty and it boils beans well. But I'm not 100% sure about that one line being ok. It's not broken, though - just partially smushed.

I'd post pics, but that seems a little overboard. ;)

Yay for you! And for installing it yourself. We did the same; in fact Matt ran gas lines all through the basement, and installed our aux heater, hot water heater, dryer and range. He tested too and everything is tight, of course. People are so terrified of gas, but it's really not that big of a deal.

As far as that dent in the line, it would make me worry, too. Better to just replace that part. Our stove was used and got jostled on the way here and there was a slightly loose connection somewhere under the range top, and it definitely affected how it cooked, until we figured out what was up (love that soap).

Enjoy your new stove!

Yeah for the new stove. And, really, after so long with your old one, I don't think pics are TOO overboard. ;)
