Hi!

I have a friend who has been looking (to no avail) for a diaper bag that can be used either over the shoulder or as a backpack. Does anyone have or know of a sewing pattern for something like this?

You can turn any bag pattern into a diaper bag simply by adding additional pockets. I used a Simplicity pattern for a backpack and just added more pockets. I even added a flap and a snap to a few.

Or you can simply take a pattern for a tote and turn it sideways, so that the opening is on the narrow end. Then lengthen your straps and attach to the middle of the opening and the corners of the bottom. Add a drawstring to the top and a few pockets... and you're all set.

When I was making bags that's all I did to create something custom. You're basically working with a square, so changing the size or adding pockets is easy math.
