My little boy is about 9 weeks, was 5 weeks early and spent 10 days in the NICU. We had a rough start with nursing, he didn't gain weight until he was about a month old. Since then he's been gaining 1 oz per day. I haven't been in for a weight check on him in 2 weeks. At about 6 weeks he started getting fussy and wanting to nurse about every hour. I figured it was a growth spurt and went along with it. It seems like it has continued since then, so about 3 weeks now. He seems fussy almost all the time. He will sometimes have a "good period" in the morning where I can have him just laying on the bed, couch, or in the swing. Other than that he is being held almost all the time, often he's just on the breast. Often after he's nursed he'll still act hungry, but will nurse for a short time and then fall asleep, but cry if I unlatch him. It's like he wants me for a pacifier and not a pacifier (LOL) He also seems to not be happy in the car, crying almost all the time we are there. I was talking to a friend yesterday and she says it's like how her son was and she thinks it's colic. My husband seems to think he's not getting enough milk and will often make him a bottle and it does seem like he'll drink most of it and then be content. I never had trouble nursing the other 2,but like I said we had a rough start. I even went to see a LC and he only nursed on one side, but got about an ounce that time and she felt he was fine. She also felt I had enough milk when I questioned her about how my right seemed to have less than my left. She said most of us nurse more on one side and after multiple kids that side will have more. Since I'm right handed I did realize that I have always tended to nurse on the left side first so I could do things with my right. I nurse him almost every time he cries, so I don't feel like I'm not nursing enough, but when I see my husband give him a bottle with maybe 2-3 oz within an hour after I've nursed it does make me wonder if he's getting enough. I'm getting worried to the point that I'm wanting to take him in sooner than the 19th when his next appt is to get weighed and see where he's at. I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Oh, he seems to like being in the hotsling puch, but not in my maya, but I haven't gotten quite adjusted to the pouch yet. I'm wondering why he's not happy in the sling. Every time I put him in any sling and not the pouch he starts spitting up and he cries like he's not happy.
