Ashley, when we get our household goods I will look at the books we used with it. Most of them were from Sonlight's Core 3, though, so you could look at their selection. Really, they are all good books.

Sonlight has a lot of the American History books.... I didn't have the kids read anythig other than the Core 3 chapter books along with SOTW 3. We read the stories in SOTW about other cultures, but all of the extra reading was related to American History.
My boys are not really loving reading yet... so I just did the ones about Am History. It worked out well for us, though. Austin and Nate both enjoyed the books.
Look at their list, and then get ones that sound interesting, I wouldn't buy the whole package of reading books.
Nathan read all of thes books: Sonlight Curriculum : Grade 3 (http://www.sonlight.com/readers-grade-3.html) plus a few more. They didn't really go with the SOTW 3, but this was what he was ready to read on his own. Austin read these (Nate read a few of them, too): Sonlight Curriculum : Level 3 (http://www.sonlight.com/readers-3.html) and really enjoyed them all. He also read most of these: Sonlight Curriculum : Read-Aloud : Level 3 (http://www.sonlight.com/read-alouds-3.html)
Hope this helps.
BTW - I know I am rambling, but I haven't met anyone here yet and I am SO craving some adult interaction! Plus... dh has been working until 7:30-8 every night... so he hasn't even been around to talk to, either. :P

 heather and thank you. I don;t have time to check them out now but I will do so soon.
My DH is at night land nav tonight and night live fire tomorrow night and then grenades next week and then in August he is in the field for a week.
THey are preparing for a deployment in a yr so the schedule is starting to get crazy with all of the training they need - thought they just returned this year!

DH's work has been meetings. He had an FRG meeting last night and didn't tell me that's what it was. He said that I didn't need to be there. Im a little irritated... he's going to leave in a few months for Iraq and we just moved here so I don't know anyone yet... but he doesn't think I needed to be at teh FRG meeting? I have no clue what the FRG really is or does, though. Oh... and today one of the neighbors mentioned something about dh's brigade getting ready to go to NTC in prep for the deployment. Ummm... how long is that? And how far ahed of the deployment do they go? I know, this should be in the military mom forum...

We have . . . the great thing about SOTW3 is that public library systems have soooooooo many of these books. Early American history . . . the children's book section of libraries are chock full!!
I'll try to go out to the garage tomorrow and check if there were any must-reads - we're back to cycle 2 this coming year, so I forget which ones we loved from cycle 3 for that age.

Thank you! Sadly, we have not had much luck with the last 2 books in finding resources at the library! I have done interlibrary loan, but the system here in El Paso, just doens't seem as good as many others.
I REALLY do appreciate your help.
