Can I ask what kind of hat or head cover you use? I don't have dreads (I want them though, DH says NO WAY!!) but I do have really long hair. I'd like something to get it OUT OF MY WAY sometimes. Something different from the usual braid or bun I usually put it in.
Thanks

I had dreads for a while, and my favorites were bandanas and crocheted, thick hair bands. I also used one cut-off leg of a pair of red stockings that I just tied in a knot to make into a loop; it was super stretchy but kind of gripped the hair, too (but not in a damaging way).

We have a babysitter who has dreads and she uses a thick headband to keep her hair back. I think one of joy's scarves would work nicely!

for me it depends on the day.
I wear a few crochet and knitted tams. I also like a big scarf. I usually make those out of what ever fabric I like at the time. Currently my favorite wraps are the crinkle cotton from Joanns. I wrap it in a bun in the back of my head. You can sort of see it under my hat in this photo. This is done with just a 36" square of light weight linen.

Thanks, Mama's.
Great Ideas.

My daughter wears playsilks, lol.
30" squares or long rectangles, depending on if she wants it to totally cover or work like a headband.

I just use bandanas, so far. Mine aren't really long. When they are, though, I'll wrap them up on top of my head, Erykah Badu-style.

I rotate between a few bandanas, a pretty colorfarm scarf, a couple of vintage silk scarves, depending on how dressed up or down I want to be. I've found at vintage stores scarves are usually plentiful and a bargain. :)
