Going to X-post this in the thrifty and gardening forums also....

We planted our own garden and we have tons of squash and zucchini now....like more than we can eat before it spoils...I don't want to let it go to waste or just give it away if there's a way to preserve it. So, what can I do? Is there a way to freeze it? Do I cook it first? Please help this novice gardener!

You can freeze it - and you can either go ahead and cook it all the way first - like with onions or whatever, or you can just slice it and blanch it. I can't remember the chemistry behind it - something like blanching or cooking breaks down the enzymes that would otherwise cause the squash to become slimy when frozen.
