My DD has been really fussy for the last few nights and I'm wondering if she is teething. She started drooling a lot more a week ago, she doesn't want to be put down in her co sleeper at night, but she will sleep next to me without a problem. She seems to be gassier than normal and I haven't changed my diet. Her night time cry when she wakes up has changed to something very throaty and low; it bizarre and hard to explain.

Was there a big behavior change for your child while teething? What symptoms did they exhibit? How long did they last before you started to see teeth erupting? I've been reading about symptoms appearing two weeks or longer before teeth erupting. Was this your experience?

Kaya was not fussy at all when teeth came in, she would just put everything in her mouth and drool a lot.

Now, Luna, she has been way fussier for her teeth coming through. Even for a week or so before I can see them about to pop up. Plus, her cry has more of a hummmm to it. She's less tolerant to being put down or having me walk away from her, needier in general when they're coming.

I use homepathic Camilia from Boiron and that seem to ease her problems a bit

My son is twelve days younger than your little one, and I've also been wondering about teething. A few weeks ago, he started drooling a lot -- what I considered a lot then, anyway. About a week ago, the drooling got much heavier -- sometimes he has rivulets of drool running down his chin, and his front is constantly wet. He will chew on anything he can get near his mouth, and he's gotten clingier. I don't know if it's just another new and fabulous level of drooliness or if he's working on a tooth.

Our babies sound like twins. :)

Our babies sound like twins. :)

That would be one long labor. :)

I guess we'll both know in a few weeks if it's teething or not!

IME - which isn't much - I've only gone through this once! - But - drooling seemed to be a stage that many babies go through whether or not it is associated with teething. And though so many hundreds of times I blamed nighttime fussiness with teething - there are so many developmental stages that can lead to nighttime fussiness. I just ahd to learn to go with it all and be as sensitive as could to DS's needs in hopes of making him more comfortable in one way or another.

DS was a late teether (in comparison to his friends of the same age, anyways) - his first didn't come in until about 9 months. But teething for us was a major EVENT! And it seemed to take 3 "phases" of teething in order to produce a tooth. His phases would include daytime and nighttime fussiness and sleeplessness, lack of eating/nursing, throwing up at night, fevers, and ear troubles. Definitely not a fun time!

Hey, just wondering if your babe's made any progress on teeth? I can feel a lump in our little one's lower gum. I think I can see white, but every time I try to stick my finger in there and get a look, he chomps down. The drooling and chewing are still non-stop. Grandma has declared that "a tooth" will be his next "accomplishment", but Grandma also thinks he's ready for some ice cream. :)

No bumps yet. She's still drooling a ton though.
