I have mixed emotions. In a way I'm thrilled she did so well, but on the other hand I think its pretty sad when she knows what the average 12th grader is expected to know in nearly every subject. I can see how much she still needs to learn, and to think that most high school graduates won't learn those things is pitiful.
The 2 areas where she needs improvement is spelling (which was an 88 percentile 8.2 grade) and math which was 65th percentile and 4.4 grade. Everything else she got 11th grade or above.

I wish they'd stop using grade equivalent scores. They don't mean a child is doing that grade level's work. For example, if a 5th grader gets a grade equivalence of 10.5 it doesn't mean that the child is doing 10th grade 5th month materials. What it means that if the average 10th grader was given the 5th grade test, that's how well the child would score. So the child was doing 5th grade work as well as the average 10th grader. Make sense?

Regardless, your child did great! I'm thinking about giving my child the Iowa Test of Basic Skills since we are possibly going to re-enroll her after one more year at home. We'll see.

Yeah, it makes sense, but I still feel its ridiculous that the average 10th grader would only do that well.

She's my oldest at 9. I'm tickled pink, and its hard not to call everyone I know who's anti-homeschooling and say, "neener, neener, neener!"
