I didn't think it was possible to like her any more than I already did! She's so amazing to me. Her ideas just work so well!

I pre-ordered the successor to First Language Lessons. Can't wait to look at it!

I also talked a bit with the owners of NOEO Science. Noeo Homeschool Science Curriculum (http://www.noeoscience.com/)
They are such nice people!

I don't know what I expect but I am always so surprised at the calmness of the homeschool convention. Very crowded but just a calm crowd.

I always come home feeling so refreshed and excited!!

Sounds like a great time! I keep meaning to make it to our state convention. It's super small, but always ends up to conflict with something I just cannot get out of!

That's very cool that you got to meet her. I've been a fan since I read TWTM last year.

Have you read her other new book? The History of the Ancient World: From the Earliest Accounts to the Fall of Rome (http://www.amazon.com/History-Ancient-World-Earliest-Accounts/dp/039305974X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-9676891-6042402?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180377640&sr=8-1)

It's great!

I would love to hear her speak - that sounds great! I don't have her new book but I plan to get it when I do ancients with my kiddos.

It's great!

I picked it up and looked through it but put it back down. Now I'm wishing I had just bought it. It does look great!

I feel like I better understand the viewpoint of the author after having heard her presentation. Isn't that weird?

I know. I didn't sign up early b/c it looked like we weren't going to make it. We went at the last minute. I hope you get to go sometime. It really is fun being around all of those homeschoolers!

I hear her speak during Friday's session, but I was not able to make it back for Saturday. I am thinking of ordering the audio for that one.

I did enjoy the confernence and found it very helpful for a new hsing mom (me) to see the curriculm up front and make better choices on what will work for us. Now to order what I did not pick up there....

Oh, I'm mom to Morgan as well :)

Hi!! Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the convention. It does really help seeing the actual books and talking to the vendors. I bought audios for 6 other speakers. I can let you know what they're like (quality wise) if you like.

Yes! I would love that. Thank you. I really wanted to stay for Satuday, but we had to leave for vacation. DH didnt get that I would have preferred another day there and be a day later at the beach. Either that or he decided it was cheaper to keep me away LOL!

We are in the processing of developing our plan for next year (3rd grader, 4 yr old and toddler, just tagging along). I am really drawn to the (neo)classical education for my big guy, but I am planning to use Five in a Row for the 4 yr old (my Morgan) as I do not think she needs as much structure yet.

Argh, I wish I'd known you were there! So was I! It was my first time going, and it was awesome. I went with a friend this year (sans kids... oh my, it was sooo nice!), but next year we'll all go... DH wants to see what I've been raving about! :)

I'll let you know! I have a busy weekend so it'll be more like next week.

My dh is similiar. He can't understand why I want to stay overnight. He follows around or takes my dd to different activities and acts bored, lol.

I like the classical education approach too. It's how I was taught until 8th grade and it really stuck.

Awww...I didn't realize. We sort of went at the last minute. I thought we wouldn't make it & didn't pay in advance. We decided on Thursday to go Saturday, lol!

Ohhh, I bet you had a lovely weekend!:) Did you listen to any of the speakers? Wasn't it so peaceful there? Such a big crowd but it was so calm. That is the only place I have ever experienced that! My dh was amazed at the kids running a few of the booths. I liked it a bit more last year at the Gaylord Palms but it was still enjoyable. If you haven't been, you need to take the kids to Gaylord. They have an atrium with fish ponds and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's cool. Look it up!:)

Sorry I missed you!

Yes, I was also amazed at the kids running the booths! There was one booth... I can't remember the name of it, they had a lot of Christian books mixed in with the "regular" books, and the mom/owner was pregnant... but anyway, the boys running it had to be no older than 8 and 10 years old! And I've never seen so many moms with huge (well-behaved) families and big pregnant bellies!

I did hear some speakers. I only went to the "encouragement" ones, not the ones selling curriculum.

We've never been to Gaylord. But DH and I were talking about going back to the Rosen Shingle Creek for a night in September when the rates go down with the kids. Just the pools alone would entertain them for a weekend! :)

The escalators at the Rosen were really getting on my nerves (not a big fan of heights and I tend to hover for a sec before I get on the escalator). Add all the people and carts of materials-Yikes!

My old company had a Christmas party at Gaylord Palms when it first opened. It was a beautiful resort and a fun place to play (we had a scavenger hunt set up with the shops and restaurants).

Oh yeah, I love seeing all of the big families! So out of the ordinary in my neighborhood. :)

I think I ended up with a mix of audio tapes. I really wanted a few and then just grabbed a few. So are good, some so-so.

We really are lucky to have so many local places to enjoy!! I love visiting other parts of the state. Do check out that Gaylord!

Yeah, I agree the escalators were irritating. I'm surprised I didn't tumble down one.
