View Full Version : Shrek the 3rd :)
Saw it with the kids yesterday and everyone enjoyed it. I laughed out loud a few times. Dh thinks the 1st and 2nd had much better plots, but all things considered it was well done with a great moral/theme and some funnies and cuteness.
I'm glad we went and will own it when available on DVD to add to our collection.
Anyone else seen it yet? Your thoughts?

I agree, I think #2 was the best by far. My ds got a little scared in the fight scenes. But it was cute.

I liked it, but I like the 1st and 2nd better. Although I will admit that I think Shrek, in general, gets better with each viewing. The fighting was a bit scary and the adult humor was closer to the edge than I felt comfortable with having my 4 year old there, but it's Shrek. That's what's so great about it for adults.

I did not care for it. Right off the bat, the king died and this upset my 6 and 5 y/o. Then, donkey and Puss made those comments about how babies are made and I thought it was a bit inappropriate. Yes, my kids know how they are made, but I don't need a cartoon discussing sex...also, when Charming stabbed Shrek (he missed, I know) by 6 y/o said "OH NO HE KILLED HIM" and got upset.
I really don't have sensitive kids. Generally speaking, I don't have strong feelings about what they do/don't watch within reason. This one just didn't sit right with me...

I thought it was really funny and so did Lauren. I just asked her if she thought any of it was scary and she said no. I reminded her about the fighting scenes and she said that she didn't think they were scary at all (she's not easily scared though). Tara didn't seem bothered by anything either but she didn't pay a lot of attention to the movie after the first hour or so.
I did think that the first 2 were better, but that usually happens. It was fun to see and we'll definitely add it to the collection with the other two. The music was fantastic in this one as well.

We had a real problem with king dying as well, it really upset dd and turning it into a musical number (Live and Let Die!!!) didn't help.
I guess for my kids they have peace with the concept of death. They know people and animals die, that it is part of life and they believe in heaven.
So people dying is sad, but ok - its sad for us because we miss the person who is leaving us, but the person or animal is just fine because they are with God. So the king dying wasn't a huge thing to my kids.
I loved the sound track too Jamie
