I've been looking over book lists, and while good thought-provoking material, I'm reaching for lighter reads for my boys overall. So, I thought it would be fun to make a book list. I will often read a really fun book, but it won't be on a booklist because of an unknown author or low circulation stats. Obscure titles and authors are welcome. My list revolves around adventure. It would be great if list was separted by genre (I'm too lazy to type correctly and put them in italics):
Ages 5ish to 8ish
A to Z Mystery- Series by Ron Roy
The Capital Mysteries -series by Ron Roy
Junie B. Jones (and I can't believe I just wrote that!!--Is great for kids who understand humor and have a bunch of silliness in them)
Geronimo Stilton (tons of books in the series)
Ages 10-12ish (revised)
disclaimer-Karman's books contain deaths. They also have journal entries that are graphic in nature as they are about historical times. We loved the adventure in these books. They even had me on the edge of my seat by book 3. However, that is something to keep in mind.
Dive (3 books in the series) by Gordon Karman
Island (3 books in the series) by Gordon Karman
ETA: Non-fiction
The Mystery of the Periodic Table by Benjamin D. Wiker
I'll let all of you add more.

My almost 7yo will be reading a combo of step into reading level 3/4 books and stepping stone chapter books, mainly ones on the Winterpromise language arts reading lists for 1st and 2nd grades plus some I throw in because I know he will enjoy them (he likes books on bugs, volcanoes, sharks, etc).
My 5yo is just starting to read so he doesn't have a real reading list unless you count Bob books and Nora Gaydos readers. :)

We're moving (house full of boxes today, moving truck comes tomorrow!) and I packed a few books for the kids to read.
I have packed:
The Bridge to Terabithia (Nathan is likig this story a lot)
Sign of the Beaver (Austin is liking this quite a bit)
A Series of Unfortunate Events 1-5 (Austin and Nate - 9/11 years old)
A book I think I might get very soon for the boys is called "The Dangerous Book for Boys". It looks pretty neat. Little sections to read about cool stuff boy love to know and do. ;) Here is the link: Amazon.com: The Dangerous Book for Boys: Books: Conn Iggulden,Hal Iggulden (http://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Book-Boys-Conn-Iggulden/dp/0061243582/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-6269556-5783022?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179880874&sr=8-1)
Adam (7) is reading through his Curious George collection.

this is funny... you have to ask what they are reading? Mine read nothing unless I give it to them.

Sydney (8) is reading Farmer Boy (that one is slow......I think she really likes it, but gets bored with it) and she just started Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary.
She's getting in to Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary type books.
She also loves the Magic Tree House series.
Bella (2) reads Dr. Seuss everyday......okay, well, I read Dr. Seuss to her everyday...lol......
Emily (8) doesn't really like to read, but she'll pick up a book here and there...not really chapter books though.
