Much of my yard is still under construction for the year... but this is a walk through of what I have done so far. Today I moved all the slate from the herb garden and put it in the garden... I got at least 1 full yard of river rock and moved it all over to where I wanted it in the borders, I put all the slate in the right place in the produce bed, I put in the new pathway in the herb bed. Yesterday I weeded out the flower and cuc bed, moved the load of rocks I got from Sarah's yard to border that bed, and weeded the pathway of the herb bed before I took up the slate. I am a bit sunburnt, but very happy, and I am thrilled with the fact that Logan is sleeping better now so I can get things done sometimes. Also, Don graduates this week, so pretty soon I will have time for this... but not before his graduation party... so I need to take it where I can get it before then. Anyway... enjoy the walk through of my yard! :)

Produce Garden shot (I am redoing the pathway right now with slate... but it costs a lot and I only had about half of what I needed so I am getting a few peices every payday instead of shelling out the dough all in one big deal, so bare with the under construction look. ;) ):

Tricolored bean teepee (purple, yellow wax, and snap green):

Perennial herb garden (with a new pathway because it was slate and I took it for the produce garden... this one cost me $7... lol):

Fuggly tree... no, this time of year it doesn't look so bad... but just wait... it is REALLY yugly for a while around Aug:

Anyone know what it is? This is what it looks like up close:

That pink tree looks like something out of Dr Suess to me. lol... but that is only this time of year... usually it looks just awful! It has these green fern like things that start coming out of it everywhere. And this is trimmed up too... It looked HORRIBLE last year:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y299/bluerosemama/Garden%20Pictures/IMG_2421.jpg

I trimmed it, and shaped it last spring... and this year it looks good compared to last year.

That spot of dirt in front is where the kids dig. They have to have a place that isn't garden... lol... and then under there is where they can play. I am just letting them have that part of the yard. Usually I store toys in that turtle... but I just mowed the lawn, so I had to move it.

The guy that lived here before me was sort of a yard idiot. I mean, he leaves this huge yugly tree, but cuts (to the ground... doesn't take the stumps out) a 50 yr old hydrangia, two large blueberry bushes, a ceder tree, three rodies (at least) and those are only the ones I know what they are... there are more stumps. Oh and what else did he leave? Oh yeah... a YELLOW rodi. WTH? Who likes yellow rodies? He was just a weird yard person. I keep having to go around his 'handiwork' to get anything out of the yard. Just yesterday I was COVERED from head to toe in dirt becuase I removed a stump he left from a plant I can't identify where the peonies are now. Just weird.

Anyhow... thank you all for the compliments. I LOVE it, and am just so excited that it is working out and so beautiful right now!

Well, how you pruned it makes it look nice. And you are right - it DOES look like a Dr. Seuss tree! What are they called in the Lorax? Truffula Trees. :D

Yes! That is what I was thinking... I think I will call it that. :) It is my Truffula Tree. :D

Me either... I feel like I just walk through every morning chanting "grow.. grow... GROW!" lol! I am going to get some big sticks from my dads house to make fun things out of.

I have to admit that knowing I am moving next year is kind of stalling me a bit.
