I am completely frustrated with the whole breastfeeding experience. I just had my 3rd and only breastfed child 2 weeks ago. Due to a latching problem, I've been solely pumping with my Medela in style pump every two hours. I'm only getting 1 ounce every two hours. Is this normal? I feel as if that may not be adequate. Should I be pumping more? I've looked everywhere online to get some sort of information regarding how much I should be pumping with a two week old. I'm really trying to stick this out.......I just don't know how much more I can take! Please help!

I would defintely contact La Leche League in your area and see about getting help with the latch, hopefully you will be able to bring baby to your breast. Keep trying till you find someone who will help. Don't think it's too late to call a leader and try to get to a meeting. I'm sending good breastfeeding thoughts to you.

Congrats, and yes, get latch help asap! Does your hospital have a lactation consultant? They grow and change alot those first few months sokeep trying to get a good latch

Hi, I am new to this site, but I have breastfed three children, with one on the way that I also plan to breastfeed. A few suggestions: If you can't get intouch with someone in your area from the La Leche Leauge, try to contact your local WIC (women, infant and children) office. You may be able to find them through your local Health Department. Also, about your milk production, the reason you may not be getting more than a few ounces is because your baby is only 2 weeks old. Your milk production increases to the suppl;y and demand of your nursing baby. This is why it is important to soley nurse your baby. Pumping is a great alternative when you are having latching on problems. I have to say, I commend you greatly for hanging in there to give your baby the best start in life. Hope all works out for you!

I had latch issues w/ my daughter & have been able to work everything out so that by 8 weeks or so we were nursing on my bare breast! It IS possible! I got help from a lactation consultant and my local LLL. I heartily urge you to contact them.

I went from not being able to breastfeed @ all and having to pump every 2-3 hours (I was using a nursing supplementer) to complete breastfeeding on my bare breast (I say bare breast because we also had to use a nipple shield).
