I never imagined I'd do this, especially with them basically telling me I can pick the days I want to work. However, there have been some really concerning political and leadership problems that directly affected my program to the extent that the district "powers that be" are more concerned with that stuff than with educating the children. I'm a teacher....and that is what I do and the children must be put first.

No, it was not a situation I could stay to help change. ( I knew someone would ask that *lol*)

I'm not sure if I want to teach full-time or not. I may consider sub-teaching since I'd only have to do that 12 days a month to make what I did this year as a half-time teacher. (working a lot more than 12 days a month)

However, I'm applying for openings and I'll interview and then pray a great deal about taking a leap into full-time teaching.

I know I made the correct decision. I'm glad for that. Boy did I learn a lot this year about how....sadly, some schools are losing the focus of the children. :(

I do believe that there are more good schools than bad schools out there!!!

As far as you go, I hope you find what you need. I understand the demands of a large family and working and all...you do need to find what you are fulfilled doing. And you will:)

I figure if I can't find a full-time job teaching, I can sub teach and I'll only have to do that 12 days a month to make what I did this year....and I can live with that until I find a full-time position.

I'm mailing out to two different school districts this weekend and then I'll watch for more openings at schools that I'd teach at. (some schools around here are so troubled that I'm not even going to look at them)

I have to keep on telling myself that I know I did what was right and I need to chill out and not stress out, KWIM?

Boy did I learn a lot of valuable life lessons this past year that I'm so grateful for. I think I came out of this experience better as a individual than I was when I went in. (if that makes sense)

Michelle, I can so relate - with my dh teaching and my own struggles with the school system and Jake...the politics and bs is unreal sometimes. I don't blame you.

I opened my own preschool program because I was not happy working as an elementary teacher (politics) or preschool teacher (pay).

I have subbed on and off and don't really like the long days (7:50-3:20) for little pay.
