We are maxed out. When my step-DD is here, we need 8 seats just for us.

I'd like to have something that could comfortably seat 10 - 12.

Where do I find something like this?

we will soon be a family of 5, and have a table that seats 8. so not much of a help....but my neighbor with 7 kiddos was clever, imo, when she put 2 identical table together. It looks rather nice actually and there is room for all 9 and a few guests. Oh and the tables are not permanently together just pushed together and at first I thought you could pull them apart and put a leaf in it! :) I was rather impressed!

I found the answer for us... benches. Our table could easily seat 8 -10 because of the benches on the sides. World Market sells a nice selection of benches in a variety of styles... and mixed with an extension table (ours isn't) would be the perfect way to accomodate more people at the table.

We got ours at IKEA, but it was a buncha babies ago. Two leaves which always stay in. And we went to benches on one side against a wall. We bought two bench seats that have a big drawer in them that roll out, so I can store all of the extra tablecloths/placemats/cloth napkins/aprons in there.

This is what we have:
IKEA | Home | Tables & chairs | Tables | Dining tables | NORDEN Dining table (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15564&catalogId=10103&storeId=3&productId=13149&langId=-15&categoryId=15801&chosenPartNumber=38088007)
With the size of our chairs we can fit 12.

And when you get rid of your current table you need to pass it over my way...

I don't know how you feel but we were at weekends only a few weeks ago and they had some really nice huge tables that had like 4 chairs on one side 2 end chairs and a huge bench seat on the other long side. you could easily fit at least 10 people comfortably at it I think. It was a nice dark color with padded bench seat in leather.

I know that when I was out west the local DI( those of you who live in the wasach front know what I'm talking about) sold table sets that with two benches and four chairs you could seat 10.It was about $500 10 yrs ago.Now I don't know where you would get something like that today for that price. There is nothing like it back east at that price.

I LOVE that table!! It is only $299 in the North American stores!! If only we had an IKEA closer than 200 miles!!

I also like this one if it was a little bigger in the middle section:
IKEA | home | Tables & chairs | Tables | Dining tables | LEKSVIK Gateleg table (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15564&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=50037&langId=-1&categoryId=15801&chosenPartNumber=40089000)

We are lucky that Ikea is 15 to 20 minutes away from our place. The table was my xmas gift as before our table was only a 4 seater, so it was hard to eat together.
The Gateleg would of been great for us if it was larger as we have a small place and our table takes up a lot of room.

This is what I've been wanting. The bigger size says it seats 10. I love the bench idea--or maybe one bench and 4/6 chairs.

But, yeah--the price...

I found this one, and am considering it, but I don't like that it's particle board and veneer - and I think it could be unstable with the leaf in and just four legs all the way out at the ends

Can your dh build one or do you have any other woodcrafters around?

My dh is going to build us this one: Trestle Dining Table Woodworking Plan (http://www.woodcraftplans.com/uc67.htm)

minus the goofy centerpiece and we will prolly stain lighter but you get the idea with the benches and chairs could be put at the ends!!

well, carp, I just read that it says it seats SIX comfortably.. does that mean I can't shove a few kids in and chairs on the end LOL~~

The pattern can be enlarged or changed to fit ones style etc...

IKEA doesn't sell our table anymore, but it looks just like the one you linked to. It's all wood, tho, no particle board. But having the legs way out there hasn't been unstable at all, and allows for more people to fit in. We've had 2 extension boards in for years and it has just warped very, very minimally.
