View Full Version : Tapping for our uniqueness!

Hello friends,

I was talking recently with a mom new to EFT. She was hesitant to tap because she thought tapping would change who she is and what she values. I thought about what makes us special and unique and how EFT can support that.

So, let's try this:

Set-Up Phrase:

Even though there's no-one like me in the entire world, and sometimes I wish I were different, I accept myself for who I am today.

Even though I'm completely unique, and sometimes I wish I were different, I am open to the possibility of accepting myself in my own uniqueness.

Even though I'm me, and sometimes that feels good and sometimes that feels bad, I am open to loving myself as me, exactly the way I am.

Eyebrow: I'm me.

Side of the Eye: Nobody can change me.

Under the Eye: I'm happy being me .... sometimes.

Nose: and sometimes not.

Chin: I have special challenges as me

Collarbone: AND I have special gifts

Under the arm: I am me

Head: I bring myself fully into being me.

- Enjoy!

Deborah --

I have Lynne Namka's books about EFT for children and seeing this board is inspiring me to take them out and try the process again. I tried a few years ago and couldn't get into it even though it makes sense to me.

I am wondering about the "Even though" statement that starts the tapping. Why not: "I am a great kid." v. "Even though I just hit my brother, I am a great kid."

Thanks in advance.

Hi Natalia,
Thanks for the question.

The short answer is (and it applies to all of us):

If you get results without using the even-though phrasing, you don't need the even-though phrasing. If you aren't getting results, you need it.

Here are some variations that might feel better:

Even though I got mad and hit my brother, I'm still a great kid.
I'm an awesome kid even when I get mad.
Even though I get mad, being mad is okay.

Here's my long answer:

The even-though statement used on the karate chop points or the sore spot is needed to correct for polarity reversal. Polarity reversal occurs in 40% of folks. It occurs more often in issues having to do with depression, chronic illness, and addictions. Since folks don't always know if they are reversed, the set-up phrase is incorporated into the basic protocol.

If you know how to muscle test, you can test for polarity reversal.

With kids, the language is much lighter and the concept is still very important. By accepting the parts of us that we don't like or label bad, it lets us move forward.

I don't know the books you mention but when working with kids, I always have the mom work her own stuff first.

So for the hitting what would fit for me would be:

(So tapping the karate chop points and saying:)
Even though my children hit each other, and I hate seeing them hurt each other and that means I'm screwing up as a mother, I forgive myself for having kids that hit.

Even though I hate it that my children hit, I love and accept myself as their mother.

Even though I can't stand to see my children hurt each other, I love and honor my protection instinct.

Even though I hate having to choose sides, I love and forgive myself.

Then after tapping the remaining points for yourself, you'd can come to the kids.

Deb.

Thanks so much for the helpful reply Deb. I will try. I need to read the books again. And do it more consistently I suppose :p

Natalia,

Let me know how it goes. It sounds like you haven't had a great proving experience with EFT yet. I'd love to work with you once via phone to give you a feel for how cool it really is. (I can offer that once at no charge ... )

I think you work with homeopathy (forgive me if I've gotten you mixed up with someone else) -- finding the right words for EFT is like finding the right remedy. I know homeopathy works, if I am not getting results, it's cause I've got the wrong remedy. Same with EFT. EFT works - if I'm not getting results, I need to apply it differently.

And actually I don't think being consistent is important. If a person can get to root cause, the issue dissolves pretty quickly. Sometimes, a person needs the co-creative space that two people create and the space to explore without having to be in charge. And for other folks, they do just great by themselves.

Best of luck. Let me know how else I can help.
Deborah

Thanks Deborah. I will have to find a time to take you up on the phone session and see if that helps. The relation to finding a homeopathic remedy is very helpful. Yes, I am studying homeopathy and have used it for a number of years.

EFT totally makes sense to me. So it probably is that I am missing something. I will pm you sometime later to set something up. Or should I go through your website?

Hi Natalia,

Glad the homeopathy analogy made sense --sometimes I doubt myself EFT and then re-remember the results I've gotten and then just know I need to apply it differently. Looking forward to talking with you.

Feel free to PM or email me --- if I'm home I reply within a day. Otherwise if we are out of town camping (which happens a lot this time of year), I'll reply when I'm back.

Alternatively, you are always welcome to call the number listed on my site and leave a message.

Cheers,
Deborah

EFT (Emotional freedom techniques) --- it's a self-help tool based on accupressure -- there are a few posts here describing it ... (I don't know how to link to a thread but there is one stuck at the top and called Intro to EFT)
