I have 6, 4, and 2. The 6 year old right now is responsible for picking up her room, dressing without help, making bed and opening shades in the AM. We call it "morning chores." Sometimes she feeds the bunny. The 4 year old and the 2 year old get help from me. Sometimes I will ask the 6 or 4 for help setting the table and they are expected to clear their own dishes. I expect them all to help with cleaning up their toys in the playroom. Is there more I can be expecting from them?

my kids are 8,almost 6 and 2.5
Some things they do
rooms
general pickup of toys
clear the table before we set it
set the table
unload dishwasher
sweep
they love to vacuum although I don't require them to do it.
I try to help when I can and some days I do the jobs to give them a break, my 2.5 yr old surprised me he goes right along with what they are doing and wants to help most of the time
ETA: I didn't realize this was in the big family forum I was looking at all new posts.

My 8, 7 and 4 year olds love to vacuum too. We have a hoover that has a handle that can be made smaller and they alll love it!
The girls(8,7): clean their room, pick up toys in other areas, help when asked(that is a big one), any mess they make they have to help, unload dishwasher(katie is 7 and loves that).
Erik(2.5) and loves to help set the table.
Robert(4) will are always trying to have him help.

yes: vacuum, mop, laundry (sorting by color, etc), folding and putting away, helping to make dinner (although this can cause the job to take longer).

I have a 6y/o. He helps folds laundry and puts it away. He is learning from an older sibling how to care for the chickens so he fetches eggs, feeds and waters them. Picks up his room, makes his bed. Entertains the baby for a few minutes if I need help. Sets the table. He can vacuum, but I love vacuuming so I don't let him often. He likes to organize so he does that to various places in the house on occasion. We have a rule that the littles must learn to do chores by 5 1/2, before that they are expected to pick up after themselves though.

My 8 yr has been unloading the silverware from the dishwasher since age 4 (I'd take the knives out first, I don't now). He then added the plastic dishes and bowls that are in a lower cabinet, so I would not have to bend over during my last 2 pregnancies! He has set the table since age 4 or 5 as well. We added him doing the water last year.
These are what I call "jobs for the family".
He also is the offical milk pourer for the morning cereal.
His almost 5 yr old brother is helping now w the dishes. And my 3 yr old likes to help as well. They get the ketchup from the fridge for meals and sometimes their own waters!
Everyone picks up the toy room and toys left around the house where they do not belong. I have had my 8 yr old vac 2X during my last pregnancy, just the toy room.
Everyone is expected to put their jacket or coat in the closet. My 8 yr old hangs them sometime, the other 2 put them on top of a tote in there. The rod is down low, so I will have the younger ones bring me their coat and hanger so they can do it and have them hang the hanger.
Having the kids keep their own rooms straight is a challenge, one I have not 100% put my effort into. They put their dirty laundry in the laundry basket in their room and keep those dirty clothes out of the bathroom. I can nag till I'm blue in the face about the toys and room clean up and it's just a battle I'm not into fighting right this minute -- maybe this summer!
They do not do anything without me asking or reminding. I assume with time that might change.
My 8 yr old puts his clothes away, I give them to him folded in a basket. I used to hang his shirts up for him, this year I stopped and taught him how hangers work.
My 4 yr old has not started putting away his own laundry. I need to start him on that, first the little things underwear and sox, then PJs since folded or not does not matter, then the other things.
See what they have interest in. On Tues it's glass and window day, I give each child an opportunity to use the vinegar&water spray and a cloth to wipe a window or door clean. On Wed it's dusting day, I give each child a swiffer duster (not the baby of course, he rides along in a carrier though:lol: )
