I am still breastfeeding my daughter who is 6 and a half years old. She only has my boob for about 5 minutes before she goes to sleep at night. Should I stop, or is it ok to carry on giving her my boob at bedtime?

Hi Mama,

I think that you should do what works for You and Her as a family. There was an article by Katheryn Dettwyler about the average age of weaning in the world and the range was something like 2.5 years to 7 years. A Natural Age of Weaning (http://www.kathydettwyler.org/detwean.html) Like I said, you need to know what is right for you two. I am so thankful for my nursing relationship with my 4 year old, it has weathered us through some of the most gross childhood flu's etc...

good luck mama,
Misty

There's absolutely nothing wrong with nursing her still - if you guys are both happy and nobody's complaining, it's just a sweet thing to do. I agree with the poster above - whatever works for your family is great. :D
