Okay - I'll give it a go as well. :)

Next time we should do a send and return variation - you know sometimes you have that fabric that speaks to you, but you don't know what to create with it? It might be neat to see what it says to someone else for you. lol!

Cheryl,
I received my package! Now I just have to learn how to sew with a knit! EEK! Can you point me to a site that tells how to use the FOE? :)
I love the print - I think it needs to be a new shirt for me. Maybe I can find that cross-over shirt that was so popular a while back (show off my new tiny chest! lol!)
Thanks!

I received my fabric yesterday. Thanks Tuesday!

I've never done this before, so we can only use the fabric and the notions and add nothing else too it? Is that correct?

Empathic~Heart
04-12-2007, 03:29 PM
You *can* use other things, but the idea is that you *must* use what was sent to you.

Sonya sent me two notions and two fabrics, so I've got my work "cut" out for me. ;)

Now, I sent in a small skein of embroidery floss with my fabric, I wasn't picturing the WHOLE thing to be used...just some for embellishing...so I didn't expect alllllll that floss to be used ROFL

Thanks!

Im not sure where instructions are, but I PROMISE- after a little practice, you will love sewing knits! When putting on foe- just make sure to cut it slightly smaller than the area you want covered (ie: neckbinding) Then you stretch it while sewing so that the neckline doesnt get all wonky. Not TOO much stretching though. It takes some practice, but you will get it. you should SEE the first few things I made with foe! lol

I love sewing with knits.. much moreso than wovens. Which is why my stash is about 85% knits. I hope you will be able to use it- I wouldnt have sent you knits if I had known you didnt sew with them- sorry about that! Im sure you will be fine though.. tshirts are so fun to make. :D

How is everyone doing on their projects? I haven't started mine, but I know what I'm going to make. :)

Well... I really like the fabric that I received. But I am knit-challenged. :help: I tried my hand at making a tank-top for my daughter. It started out good, but the bottom hem keeps curling up. Maybe I'll just run it through the serger and give it a frilly bottom edge. :P

I have matching shorts cut out, too. I will try to get those together tomorrow. Pics soon to follow.

Ok... Here is my SNS for this SWAP... I received a yard of this cute yellow knit with some elastic. I used it to make a shirt and shorts for my daughter, Emalina.

This is my first attempt using knit. The shorts ended up as capri pants. But I think they look cute. I am re-doing the tank, mainly because the pattern was way too wide... (and I messed up the bottom hem, big time).

But, it was an adventure. I've taken the plunge, so now I'm not so afraid to use knits. :)

enjoy...

Very cute Jean, the outfit is nice too! I love that fabric! ;) It's less scary venturing into something new with fabric you didn't purchase for a specific project, isn't it?

I'm *almost* done with mine, have had nothing but problems with it along with 10,000 interruptions that slow me down with painful regularity. sigh.

I'll post pics later tonight or tomorrow!
