So I schlepped up the hill yesterday with a fighting four year-old and baby in the carrier, wearing flip flops, late to pick up my son from school, and I woke up this morning with bright red grapes on my left boob. Boo hoo! I feel SO SICK and SO TIRED. It's the worst I've ever had - a big red map all over my breast.

I just can't stress myself out the tiniest bit - what is with my body? My mother thinks maybe it's because I have a big milk supply and small tubes.

Waaa waaa for Belinda :wah:

Ugh, that sucks! I'm sorry. Are you going to do antibiotics, considering Avi's yeast issues? Mastitis is the pits. Just think, you'll have a care package on the way this weekend.

Awww mama, so sorry. I hated those days when that would happen and it did often with my #2... she had sucking issues and could never clear things out right!!

Get well soon!!

I actually had a *fever* in the night! I've never had that with mastisis before. And I'm going to avoid antibiotics if I possibly can - we have enough chronic yeast problems already.

Mark's gone all day today (he left at 7:15) so it's my job to somehow make my arms work to brush the kids' teeth, get myself dressed, all that. How the H am I going to do this without winding up in hospital??? Prayer. That's all I can think of...

And Kerri - I can't wait to get my care package! I have so many things I'm waiting for (new nappies, baby blankets I've ordered) and nothing's here yet!!!

Do you have anything on hand that could help wipe it out? Colloidal silver? Grapefruit seed extract? If you're just relying on rest and fluids and nursing it might be a bit of a trial. Could you call your awesome midwife and see if she has any ideas?

When it was starting last time (when my milk was coming in) she said to take lots of Vitamin C, rest, fluids, and that's it.

I've done lots of cold compresses, and I think I might be feeling a little better. Maybe the fever helped kill some bad stuff? Very few red streaks now.

Well yeah, I guess that's the point of a fever (fight germs). Good for you that it's improving. Now can you rest this weekend?

So how are you feeling now? Any better? I sent the stuff on Friday and they said it should be there in a week or less.

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better!

SOY LETHICIN. Seriously. Start taking it. Two to three tablets a day. It has no hormones in it because it is so processed and it has done wonders for my breast issues.

I think baby's reacting to soy - is there another lecithin that might work?

I had another plugged duct, got fluey and sick and early mastisisy yesterday!

Not a preventative, but I have had good luck (when not knocked on my ass), with using homeopathics--Byronia Alba when there is a plugged duct, but no red streaks, etc., and Belladonna when there are red streaks and fever. There is another remedy I have heard mamas here say is good, but I haven't used it, and I can't remember what it is.

Soy Lethincin is barely soy. It has none of the reactive protiens that would cause issues. Unfortunetly there is really no other way to get it. But it realy helps. In fact, I am going to pick up more right now. Along with more vitamins. :D
