I stink at starting seeds. I get them to grow for about a week and then they get spindly and a die off.
Do you start yours? What do you do? How do you get them to be good?

I find the most important thing with my seeds is the light source. You need a good light on the seedlings from the moment they sprout out of the soil, for 12-16 hours a day. I have flourescent tube lighting in my basement that does the trick, I lower the fixture when the seedlings are small. The light should only be a couple inches from the top of the leaves.
Once you get the light right, just make sure they are evenly and gently watered, and it should be OK!
I learned a lot from this book: Growing Herbs from Seed, Cutting and Root (http://www.amazon.com/Growing-Herbs-Seed-Cutting-Root/dp/1883010780/sr=1-1/qid=1171588763/ref=sr_1_1/103-9408182-0340616?ie=UTF8&s=books)

Thanks Elsie! I'll have to see if I can get something rigged up in my basement, I have plenty of space down there. I'll see if I can get that book at the library!
