We are very relaxed and border on unschool but I would like to hear from everyone because we all do fun things!!
We have had only 1/2 day of snow (melted by noon).... So we are inside,
building forts, reading, reading and did I mention reading?, drawing/coloring, playing outside on mild days....
I am kinda bored (because one at a time, a child has been sick around here since Christmas so my time is not my own)but the kids are not, surprising!.....
Soooo, what inspiring, awesome, fun things are you doing this winter?

No answers? I cannot promise to be inspiring. :)
We have reverse seasons here. So, we do planting and such during this time. We have to be done by April or nothing will grow without a lot of water.
Mostly, I try to get my kids outside.
They have been doing huge pictures on butcher block paper. They work together on either side and meet in the middle.
My 6 yr old also enjoys doing fuse beads. Here is a link:

My oldest and I have been knitting a bunch.

We haven't really been doing anything great and inspirational either. We've had two "snow days", but neither were really enough to build snowmen, etc.
Mostly, I've been focusing on making connections and building relationships, since we just moved here in October. I'm hoping that by having small get-togethers with one family at a time here during the winter, when we meet with large groups at park days, or what not, in the warmer weather, DS won't be so overwhelmed by tons of kids he doesn't know.
Lots of baking and cooking together, crafts, silly little projects like peanut butter birdfeeders, etc.

Stacy, my guys love the fuse beads too!! Since I posted this, I have inspired my self to knit and crochet and just finish some of *my*projects and this usually causes the others to follow suit and find something interesting to do.
Christine, I love your answer!! One of my goals this year is to become more connected with families and so far it is going great... I don't know what I was so afraid of before!!
Thanks for sharing mamas!

Yes! I'm so in love. Lately, we've been having some incredible sunsets breaking through clouds. I tried 3 days in a row to capture the color. I finally got it.
That is a peak off to the side of my house. I have a view of the High Sierras off my front porch. I feel so lucky.
Here is a view when we got a light dusting of snow down low (which is rare):

Thank you for the mention.

Let's see... The girls are still enjoying writing to their pen pals and relatives.
We've done drawings on butcher paper, tracing each girls body and then they draw a costume and paint.
We are working on bird guides seeing as the birdfeeders are hopping this time of year. We draw the birds, differentiate between males and females, look them up in the bird guide and read about nesting habits... Sometimes, just writing the details of that they see can make great Nature Journal entries.
We're doing experiments on freezing water. Putting out two bowol of water, one hot and one cold, and seeing how long they take to freeze a layer over the top or completely. We've been noting the temps and how they vary as the day progresses.
I have been setting up obstacle courses, a big hit during the winter. I have them climb over, or crawl under various things, follow a clothesline as a tightrope on the floor, toss balls and bean bags into baskets or pails, jump over playsilk hurdles, do laps around the couch, jumping jacks... the list goes on and on. Once they become too good at a course, we do them sideways or backwards.
Also, lots of cooking and baking. The girls go sledding a lot. Ack, Luna's crying so my time is done. I'll be back to this thead later!
