I'll take two spots please. Thanks!

I really like the idea of a "space" quilt. My only hesitation is the inclusion of aliens. I don't think my son would be scared of fabric with little green men on it, but I know he loves the space shuttle and looking at the stars. Would it be cool if we left out the fictional characters and stuck with stars/planets/rockets etc... ??

Just a friendly suggestion. :)

I'm not bothered one way or the other... I was just trying to think of what sorts of things would be space-related. I have *lots* of star fabrics, for example, but not much with astronauts or rockets. In fact, if someone does want to send in aliens, and you don't want them, then I could send you a different star fabric instead if you'd like. :)

opinions on this?

eQuilter Product Detail (http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=46755&sid=31U9Hz1ja2uT6hH-48107052741.1c)

It's one I was considering sending but I can keep it for myself since I know Mason would love it. But I think it would require fussy cutting so I wouldn't be offended if asked to stick to planets, etc. Is it too cartoony? I haven't ordered it yet anyway....and I was planning on ordering extra to use it as part of the back since it's cool (imo lol)

But I don't want to freak any kids out. Please let me know if it's ok or not. :)

Ok. That sounds great. I hate to sound so picky....

I really like the "atomic city" fabric! Cool... I'm glad I got in on this swap. :)

Danielle, I have a coordinating fabric, which I am debating whether to use as a backing or as part of the swap. What do you both think?

http://www.amitymama.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=61182&stc=1&d=1169555456

and it looks as if that atomic city is out of stock at equilter - did you buy it all, or something?! If you didn't, and still want to buy some, I did find an auction/BIN on ebay:
eBay: SPACE PATROL ATOMIC CITY ROBOTS SPACE SHIPS FABRIC (item 150076282252 end time Jan-29-07 19:57:27 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/SPACE-PATROL-ATOMIC-CITY-ROBOTS-SPACE-SHIPS-FABRIC_W0QQitemZ150076282252QQihZ005QQcategoryZ712 06QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem)

LOL! Yes, I did buy it all. :smirk: I decided that it would be best as backing since the scale is kinda large so I bought all 2.25yds of it.

I LOVE that coordinating prints!

I had to get some of this too (not to send since it's not really space...but to mix in when we make the quilt since Mason loves robots)

I would like in. I would prefer as much non-alien etc stuff as possible, but won't be offended by a few. My guy loves space, but the real space stuff.

This weekend I went through my stash and oh my it's rather embarrassing how many space-themed fabrics I already have, in quantities of a yard +! so I've put myself down for a bunch more spots. Anyone else want to join in?!

RocketScientist

Would anyone be put off if I extended the deadline on this? It would be great to have some more participants, if possible. Or am I wishing for the impossible?

HUGE favor to ask! Hey ladies this is Jeannine's husband. She is in Florida helping her friend who is about to have a baby. **correction**I just read the previous post and saw that the deadline was extended, so no favor needed.

Okay - I'm in too - two spots for me, please. My 1st grader is studying the planets and is very interested in them! (Anything to foster an interest in science "Why yes dear, I had to buy more fabric to help our child become a scientist!") lol!

I just noticed that we are just shy of 20 people. How many squares should I cut?

RocketScientist
03-11-2007, 10:16 AM
Could you still cut 30 of each, please? What I'm going to do is make sure everyone has one of each type that's coming in, and then a mix of whatever's left... so that each person may get 10 duplicates, but not 10 of all one type, IYKWIM. It allows for more variety in the quilt. :)

Oh poo! The procrastinator in me won, I think. Going to put them in the wash now. I'll have them out tomorrow. Sorry. :( Forgive me?

Mine are on their way. I made a mistake when cutting on one of the fabrics and accidentally end up with 6 squares that were 6.5" x 6" But I didn't think it would be a problem since I still had 24 good squares and there weren't even 24 spots filled. So I sent good squares on with a note apologizing for their missing, messed up friends.

Awww why couldn't my 7 yr old decide to be interested in space just a couple weeks earlier? She just told me yesterday that she has a new interest-space instead of dinosaurs. Bummer. Can't wait to see what you all do with your squares though! :)

Got my squares today! They are really awesome!! My son was oooooing and ahhhhhing when we were looking through them. He said that he wants to put the quilt on his ceiling so that he can lay back on his bed and look at all the stars. :P

I have two quilts ahead of this one, but I will post some pics when I get around to it! :)

Thanks again everyone...
