I need to find a way to make $700/month. We are very unhappy with Morgan's kindergarten and really want to put him in a private school here. It's $325/month. I'm sure that we can re-arange things in our budget to be able to afford it, but it would be nice to find a different way to pay for it since we will need to start thinking seriously about replacing our car, which more than likely means a higher payment.

In our search for a new school for Morgan, we found a montesorri (sp) pre-school/K that would be PERFECT for Cody. He had sooooo much fun in the short time we visited, and he seemed to really click with the lady who runs it. I would love to enroll him, but it's $330/month.

I have been doing Mary Kay, and I see the potential to make enough money, but I'm not sure how to tap into it.

The minimum wage in Idaho is pitifully low, and there really aren't a lot of jobs around here besides fast food anyway.

I used to be a nanny. pre-school teacher, and Kindergarten enrichment teacher, and I could go to either of the schools to see if they need any help in exchange for tuition rebate.

I really don't have any marketable skills, b/c I got married and started having babies straight out of school. I haven't had any extra education other than some early childhood education classes.

Morgan's school is 8:30-2 and Cody's is 830-12:30, so that somewhat limits my available time.


Any ideas for anything i could look for?

how about housecleaning? most people who can afford a cleaning are not gross people, and it pays $10-$20 per hour usually cash. you would probably need only 3 houses per week, maybe 4.

What about petsitting? It would require an okay car, but depending upon your area, it could make some nice extra money. Some people even pay for you to take fluffy out to pee while they are at work.

i would talk to the school about getting a job there. you do have plenty of marketable skills considering your experience nannying, with early childhood ed, and raising your own children.

one of my friends (single mom) wanted to run on the same schedule as her daughter and started working for the montessori school that she wanted her daughter to go to. she's been working there--full time, which is the school day, school year--for the past 4 years and really loves it. she's always 'off' when her kid is off, and she earns enough money to support the both of them.

i believe she works as a classroom aide or something like this and gets a great discount on tuition. it's worth considering. put together a resume of your experience that goes like this:

education (whatever your education is)

skills (what mommy/nanny skills do you have? what other kinds of skills do you have such as computing, etc?)

experience (nanny stuff, any internships in school, etc)

references (i typically use "references available upon request" but you can also list those for whom you've worked via nannying, etc).

trust me, SAHMs have lots of marketable skills. lots and lots and lots. :)

I would talk to the school too. I am teaching preschool at the private school my kids attend and even though I don't get a break on tuition, I do make enough to pay for them. And, their childcare (if I have a meeting or teacher workday) is free. (I am a certified teacher but I hadn't taught in 6 years because I was a SAHM.)

You could sign up for some of the online gtp programs. The one in my link is nice, I dont do much there anymore, but my referals do and I earn a bit each month. It helps. It wont get the whole amount that you need unless you do alot of work, but it could help out a bit.
